View Full Version : QAP SCORES
I JUST RECEIVED MY QAP SCORE FOR THE CENTRAL DIVISION. I WAS GIVEN AN 85. I KNOW THAT MY POSSIBILITIES OF GETTING HIRED HAVE BEEN REDUCED WITH THIS SCORE. IS THE COMMITMENT TO HIRE LETTER GIVEN TO PEOPLE WHO SCORE AND 90 AND ABOVE. DOES ANYBODY RECOMMEND THAT I RE-INTERVIEW AGAIN. THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLIES.

Whew. I got scared when I saw your post. CHP1 is the Commisioners call sign on the radio. I only heard it one time, but it definitely got my attention. I don't know the answer to your inquiry, but someone on here will.

I also recieved below 90 for my QAP. I had to start the entire process again, except for a waiver for the written test. It sucks. Good luck in the process!
CHP1, yes, it is the commitment to hire letter you're looking for. If you don't hear anything by the final filing date for the next test in your Division, it's probably a good idea to retest. Actually, if you really want a job with us, you'll want to be sure to retest.
That said, we have given a commitment to hire to some who scored 85, so there's a chance you're still in the running. Unfortunately, it's hurry up and wait time to see if you get the letter.

When I was in the process, I was told that a 90 would get me into the academy by an OFCR recruiting out of Central, so I waited with my 90 for a commitment to hire! Big mistake! I waited and waited for my Commitment to hire, finally I called the background unit in Sacramento and was told that a 95 on QAP was required to get in to the academy. I submitted my application next day, a week later I get a call from the CHP, unfortunately my app made it two days late for the next testing cycle, so I had to wait from August until December until I could put a new app in. When I finally got the app in, I got a 95 on QAP and the wonderful hiring freeze happend! 1 1/2 years later the CHP started hiring and Finally after 3 yrs I got my shot. If I would have put in a new app after my initial 90 QAP, I probably would have made it before the hiring freeze. Instead of being on the job for under a year, I would have almost 3 years on the job. "Morale of the story" DO NOT WAIT TO SEND IN YOUR NEW APPLICATION, DO IT ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE NEW TESTING CYCLE! DONT COUNT ON SOME RARE OCCASION, WITH SOME RARE INDIVIDUAL, THAT NOBODY KNOWS, WHO GOT IN WITH AN 85. However, if someone did get in with the lower score and someone actually knows them, they are the exception not the rule!

 THANKS A LOT I WILL RESEND MY APPLICATION!
