hey guys, i'm new to this site, just wanted to say there's alot of good info on here that has helped alot for me going through the process. Quick question, my psych is on 3/12/07, anybody think I've got a chance at the april 2nd academy? This is my last step. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I had my psych in the middle of Jan. and received my letter at the beginning of Feb. I know not all applicants visit this site but with the class size is suppose to be around 250 cadets. Only a handful of members are going. I would definitely workout as if you were going to be attending. Keep in mind that you might still get a call the Friday before and after April 2 if cadets drop out the first week.
Hope you will be attending.

Good luck with the psych test! My husband was one of the people who got a letter in January inviting him to continue with the background investigation. Since then he is being called almost weekly and things are moving very fast! He just had the stress test this morning and he was told by the investigator this morning that they are trying to fill the April academy still and they are trying to push him through in time!
So my guess would be you have a good chance of April! According to this investigator they are still short in numbers. Good luck with the process and congrats for making it this far!!!
anybody think I've got a chance at the april 2nd academy?A chance, yes. I won't say it is good or bad, but there is a chance.

I just took my medical last week, and am now waiting for the psych interview. I was wondering what the proper dress attire for the psych interview should be?

Slippers, a plaid skirt (for males and females), Hawaiian shirt and one of those hats that has a place for beer cans on each side and a straw hanging down.
Actually, I think the answer falls under the "common sense" category.

I attended the medical 2 days ago, if everything clears...will I receive a letter or do I just patiently wait for a call for my psych?

I have been patiently waiting for that phone call for 6 weeks now. Is this normal? I’m just ganna ride it out and hope that April can still be a possibility, if not June is looking pretty good..

Six weeks is normal. It took the SPB about that long, maybe a little longer, to get back to me. It took so long that when I finally received the call, it took me off guard.

What would you expect to see an officer in?

Duhhhh, a uniiform. But then showing up for your CHP psych interview wearing a CHP uniform might raise some red flags, don't you think. Is that what you wore?

Right on. When did you have your final interview? I had mine 7 weeks ago, pushing 8, medical three days after my final and still haven’t received the appointment for the psych yet. I’m bumming big time because I was counting on making it to the April academy; considering I had two and a half months to finish everything from my final.
Can anyone explain if this normal to not hear anything for this long? I think I know the answer, but maybe someone has experienced a situation similar to mine or knows something about this. I know there are others out there who have been patiently waiting just as long as I have and would probably like to know why the heck they haven’t been called yet. But concern is beginning to set in. I have begun to think they called the wrong number or something.
Anyway, good luck, I’ll just go back to my cave and sit tight and wait for the phone to ring.

When you attended your medical, you receive a TB shot and you're required to return within 2 days for a read. Did you do this? that's the only thing that I can think of that might be delaying a phone call. :noidea:

Did you send them the list of all your prior shrinks and give said shrinks the release forms? Call Sac and see if there's one they are waiting for records from. I sent the release forms out to everyone I needed to, but one of the doctors must have missed the point and never sent anything, so the whole time I was waiting for contact from them, they were waiting for these records to come (which were never enroute in the first place).
The only reason I knew that though was because Sac sent me a letter telling me to send them a list of doctors I've seen, and since I already did that I called to see why they wanted me to do it again. They looked up my file and told me they were waiting for one more set of records. I had my medical over a month ago too, so that was a whole month wasted.
Today is Friday, you might want to give them a call today so if anything is missing you can have it ready to go on Monday.
Having said all that I still haven't been contacted yet since they probably only got that last set of records yesterday.

I had my medical exam on Jan 10th and I received a call on March 7th to schedule a Psych exam. I would guess it sometimes takes awhile to get all the paper work moving for all the applicants. Though a call to Sac might put your mind at ease to at least know what's going on.

My mistake, I didn't realize officers wore uniforms to appointments, 24/7. Even off duty.
What I meant by that is... Would you expect an officer to show up for an extremely important interview in anything but a suit? I sure wouldn't.

Holy mackerel...I would pay money to see an applicant walk into their psych interview wearing a CHP uniform! Even better would be an empty holster and the applicant pointing to it, saying, "If you get me through this interview, I get to fill this void!" Thanks for the laugh, Snowdog!
To all applicants: The whole process is a series job interviews. This job is better than working for McDonalds. So, comb your hair (if you have it), shave your face and neck, pluck your ear-hairs, pluck the hairs hanging out of your nostrils, pop the whiteheads, AND PUT ON A SUIT--unless told to dress otherwise. Take pride in your appearance and get used to putting forth maximum effort--even in the little things.
I remember going to my QAP and seeing guys wearing jeans and a polo shirt, and people with i-pods in their ears that looked like they just rolled out of bed at the PAT. Needless to say, I didn't see them again.

Are the psych interviews in Sacremento or are they at the division offices.
