Three Fresno Police officers are in the hospital this morning, after being shot in Southwest Fresno.
The incident happened around 11 p.m. Tuesday night as thousands of Valley residents celebrated Mardi Gras in the Tower District.

According to police a suspected drunk driver was being followed for several blocks by a Fresno motorcycle cop when he opened fire on the cop. The officer was hit by the gunshots, along with an innocent bystander who was struck in the back.

After the gunfire, a full blown chase began with more than a dozen cops pursuing the suspect. The suspect continued to shoot at cops striking two more. One of the injured cops continued to pursue the suspect ramming his car into the suspects vehicle causing him to finally stop near Angus and Dakota, a whole 4 miles away from where the original pursuit began. The suspect was then shot dead by officers.

Enrique Reade, a resident of the Tower District, said that this shooting is a real shame for the community, "one person came here and did what he did, now everyone is going to have to pay for it."

Police have released the names of the officers involved in the shooting, they are Sgt. Charlie Chamalbide, Officer Gil Holguin, and Officer Raphael Davies.

Police are now investigating the crime, and are expected to update the public on their finding later today.

The stupidity of some people never seizes to amaze me. Odds are this idiot spawned a miniature replica of himself..now the poor kid has no dad. Mom probably can't support the kid all by herself, so she'll have no choice but exercise her right to receive finacial support from the government, meanwhile the kid will start getting into trouble at school..begin failing classes, getting into fights, using drugs..he'll then enter the justice system, build himself an exstensive criminal record, have a baby at 17... and with no guidance/support within his single family home..he'll return to the streets, become involved in a shoot out (like his old man) with the local police department and the vicious cycle will pick up where it left off with his fatherless child. This is all hypothetical of course.

On a positive note...I'm rejoiced to hear no officer lost their life.

*sigh* sorry I just had to get that out.

The injured Sgt. and one of the injured Officers continued the pursuit after being shot. The Sgt. was grazed on the right side of his head and is actually the one who rammed the suspect vehicle ending the pursuit. Hats off to a Stud Warrior! Chalk up one more for the good guys!
