Anyone heard anything about the outcome of their interview? I heard some people were told right there and than to reaply at a later time.

Yikes. Walking out of there having been DQ'd has to be a blow.

My understanding is that the scores will go out after all the interviews are done. I do not know if everyone got interviewed by the end of Friday, so I guess its possible some of us might not know until NEXT week (if interviews are still being done THIS week).

And I have conflicting information on how quickly the PHS will be looked at by BIU. At the PAT we were told they pull from the top of the stack based on QAP score. At the Psych we were told the stack is looked at and the "neatest and most well-filled out" go to the top. After my QAP I was told they are doing them on a "first come first serve" basis. :hitwall:

Here's what you do: score 100 and get your perfect PHS in now. Score

Best to all who have come this far...one step closer.

I just had my QAP today and thought it went well, at least I wasn't automatically DQ'd. I'm in Northern and there is still tomorrow (Wed.) left before the local QAP's are done.

Hoping I did well enough to move into BI's right away. At our PAT, we were told that highest QAP, would get their BI's done first. Here's to hoping...:hitwall:

If you are automatically DQ'd, you are told at the QAP. Otherwise, you get a letter telling you your score. If it is higher than 70, welcome to backgrounds. Then, hurry up and wait.

Sooo I think I scared my mail man today, I was chipping some golf balls around the yard waiting for the mail, when the mail driver came driving up to my mail box. I ran towards the mail box like a bat out of hell to see if my letter had come from the chp. I really didn't think much about the fact I was caring a golf club and wearing my pjs and a trucker hat (I live in the country) But the mail man sure did, He went super pale and his eyes were the size of my golf balls, He thought I was going to do him in for sure... After seeing no letter I explained my situation and apologized for scaring him. He started smiling and said he almost wet himself.. Anyhow moral of story, be patient

I work accross the street from where I live so I am home every break at 12pm checking the mail. The mailman just happens to deliver it around the same time everyday, so therefore he sees me everyday going to the mail box right after he is done. He doesn't seem that friendly, so I haven't talked to him yet, but I'm sure by now he thinks I am an unemployed, crazy person. I am hoping I will get something soon, this is driving me and my wife crazy, more me than my wife.

My wife and I are in the same boat, although it is driving her more crazy than me. She is a teacher and she is having a hard time not telling her colleagues about next year. I feel for her because I know she thinks she is deceiving her co-workers. She will be taking over the Physics department next year if she returns, so a lot is riding on her/our future. She understands that she will get to take a year off next year if I get into CHP, however, so she keeps hanging on.

Just to ask, When I tested our PHS were due at the PAT. The QAP board hammered a lot of us on our PHS. I get the impression that most of you are turning them later this time around.

That is correct. As part of the "streamlining" of the entire process (in addition to lowering the passing QAP score to 70), the PHS is due approx. 1-2 weeks AFTER the QAP.

Of course I am sure the BIU is thrilled that more stuff is left for them to filter out applicants on (on top of more applicants going to backgrounds).

Now I am seeing that you guys are getting your results in for your QAP.....a little jealousy is flowing...not going to lie...but Good Luck to you all!!!!

Ok, so no offense to anyone, but I just called a person who is in the "cadet selection division" or somehting like that, very nice and informative guy. He said it is not possible that someone would get a call from a BI before recieving their passing QAP score. He also said that letters from QAP results should be going out early next week like Monday, so he said we should expect to recieve them on Wednesday or maybe Thursday next week. So lets hope that this will end our anticipation soon, well at least for this part of the process.

Okay....interesting. I have had several contacts with my BI as of today.

So either the person at the "cadet selection division" is incorrect or they are calling me ahead of my QAP Score Letter for some reason.

Keep in mind though, it seemed as if this whole part of the process was in flux even up to the time of the QAP interviews to the point where we were told at the QAP that the PHS would be worked on a first come, first serve basis (which differed from what we had been told up to that point). It was due the 26th...I had mine in on the 20th--so maybe that explains some of this.

And who is that "other person" you are talking about? Could it be Aggienut? Granted Aggie may occassionally irritate me, along with some others who assume too much or believe they know more than they really do, it is extremely possible that he is correct. Is it possible that the background investigators know all of your scores, know what cases they they will be working and are making early contact to help expedite things once they receive the green light to work the case? I know several investigators who are doing just that. But what do I know. I'm just a background investigator. Do you get my drift?

So sounds like they contact the candidates that they feel are the best fit for the academy first. After they contact these individuals first then they start contacting the rest of the candidates to fill in the spots. Well Aggienut you are either a really good candidate with clean background from what they saw on your PHS or you are just one of the lucky ones, either way congrdulations and best of luck to you. My stuff is all turned in and I'm waiting on the score from the oral. How many times do I have to say that each Division handles things differently? Everyone is arguing about who is right about how the process works. The procedures may be different based on your location and everyone could be correct. Stop worrying so much about how to get your cases to the top of the pile and go workout, study the dictionary, or do something else we recommend you do to prepare for when you do make it through the process.

What have we learned?
Aggienut is a genius who's case will be worked before anyone else in the State.
If you turn your PHS in early your BI bakes you brownies.
You must turn your PHS in within seven days of notification you passed the QAP unless it is raining outside, in which case you are given two weeks. The mailman can authorize an additional one week extension.
There is a new HQ unit called BIU that handles applicant X-Files.
Regardless of when you move to the top of the pile, your background investigation will be completed in record time compared to the other 18,000 officers on the job.
Applicants will continue to give one another advice no matter how many times we suggest it is a bad idea.
If you ask enough people a question you will eventually get the response you want to hear.

Sean thanks for your encouragement, good luck to you on the remainder of the process and to everyone else as well.

This sucks!! But I will not give up until they tell me I got no way of getting into LE.

By the way sounds like my extensive driving history had something to do with the QAP score "65". I had around 18 citations since age 16, most serious ones were speeding others were "fix it" tickets. Last speeding or moving violation was around 3 years ago or maybe even more.

This is just for people to see what might DQ you.

I agree, its kind of hard to do that when you call a recruiter (which is one of the people I've talked to today) and they try to make you sound like you are not a good law obeying citizen because of your citations which is true ONLY if they put in a past tense and instead of saying you "are not" they should say you "were not" a good law obeying citizen 10 years ago, 9 years ago, or 8 years ago which is when most of my citations took place. CHP also will not disclose the specific reasons as to why else my score was so low other than the "driving history", I mean of that and only that gave me a score of 65....I would have to say I am surprised that it would go that low. Overall I think CHP is great and all, its just that I wish I would have known when I was 16, 17, and 18 that I wanted to be in LE, I would have had a much better driving record.

Definitely take it as a learning experience. But just a little FYI, I don’t think the 18 traffic citations is necessarily the reason why got you the score you did. Only because I have you beat in that area, and then some...
There are a lot of factors that they consider during your QAP, traffic citations one of them and others that I have no idea of. Remember it’s a job interview and you need to sell yourself and be presentable. But from my experience with the QAP, like yourself, my driving record was an issue. I knew I was going to have to own up for the mistakes and prove to them that I had changed since then. I could be wrong, and things may have changed since I had my QAP (Oct 06) , but I don’t think the traffic citations alone is the main reason for your low score.

Good luck and don’t quit.
FYI, I got an 85 on my QAP

FYI for future reference, there is no appeal process for a low score on the QAP.

They should say you "were not" a good law obeying citizen 10 years ago, 9 years ago, or 8 years ago.
Its just that I wish I would have known when I was 16, 17, and 18 that I wanted to be in LE, I would have had a much better driving record.

C'mon VLDDZ, don't start getting all touchy feeling because of the words someone used. If your feelings get hurt that easily this is not the job for you. We see comments similar to that on too many exit interviews. "Why are you resigning"? "Because I didn't know that there was going to be so much yelling and screaming".
You know what they say about hindsight. But, it doesn't sound like you are in the penalty box forever. That is unless you are 35 and there is much more that contributed to the low score.

Goldendog,
According to the Sarg. at the QAP it was the only neg. thing he brought up for discussion at the interview, he specifically said that this will effect my score, eveything else was smooth, atleast I felt that way. I have been getting some info today that just maybe the board was bias, but hey that's only an opinion of someone that I may or may not agree with. I am clean as far as drugs, no arressts, no criminal history, nothing like that, I got fired from 2 jobs at age 16 and 18 for giving away free food at a fast food joint to my friends. As far as eveything else I thought it was good, anyways I'm not making excuses, just giving you guys some info.

FYI for future reference, there is no appeal process for a low score on the QAP.

According to the letter that came with the none passing score says there is. I'm not going to go that route anyways so it doesn't matter now.

That is unless you are 35 and there is much more that contributed to the low score.

snowdog,
my feelings are not hurt at all, just disappointed, believe me I'm not affraid to be yelled at or screamed at. I am a person that does not like when people make statements that are not accurate, especially when that person sound like they're doing it intentionally to make you sound bad. I am 26 and cannot think what else could have contributed to my low score. I am a person of good moral, a family man, 2 young children, 5 years of marriage and still going strong, never been arrested, did marijuana 2-3 times at age 16 and did cocaine (smoked) 2-3 puffs 1 time, all this was also at age 16. I have not had any moving violations for the last 3 years atleast, so that tells me I've learned from my mistakes and improved (my opinion). Its all good I'm not giving up no matter who tells me what I know I am a good candidate especially with my second language skills (Russian , Ukrainian). Tell me one thing snowdog, how many times has CHP wished they had an officer that speaks these languages, especially in Sacramento area? Maybe you don't know, but I've talked to officers that said "that would be great"

I see that you got an 85 on the QAP in Oct.06. How far along are you in the process?

Perhaps your presentation is what needs fine tuning. Make certain you are making good eye contact, think before you speak, avoid "uhhm", uh huh", "uh uh", little things like that. I've been sitting listening to an interview tape of mine that I thought I articulated very well only to hear occasional bad habits creeping back. I know you don't have access to the tape but just keep that in mind next time.

Not as many times that I've been in LA, the Bay Area or dealing with weekend casino travelers and wish I had someone nearby who was fluent in spanish.

Check you PM for a message from me.

Camped my mailbox and got mine today. . . .85, so I passed! Not sure how good/bad that is, or how high/low I am ranked in the grand scheme of things, but I let out a sigh of relief that I was allowed to continue. Hurry up and wait, her I come!

Nice. Its a pass and that is what counts in my mind. From what I understand an 85 would have put you through in past years as well.

Get those copies of all your records ready....when your BI calls for it they want it yesterday.

Also....I think those that don't have the QAP letter now...will by tommorow. They come from Sac, so the closer you are the sooner it gets there (unless your postal carrier is driving a 'Vette).

And my score was a 95. Bummer...I was shooting for 100

I had my QAP in Dec. and got an 85. I should've received my score by 12/24 but I got the letter mid Jan. If you see one of my previous posts, you'll see why. Looks like it took you around 3 1/2 months to clear backgrounds. I still haven't been contacted by BI but I'll keep my cool for about a week or so before I call. I know they are very very busy...
Good luck with the oral psych!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your score! All you have to do now is to sit back and relax until your case gets assigned. Forget the relax part and onto the physical prep as I am sure you're already doing.
Good luck!

Congrats folks. Looks like I should chime in to this thread. Got my first call from my BI today! Almost snapped to the position of attention when he introduced himself. I felt like an undercover CIA operative, writing everything he told me, attention at full peak.
