Holister - Gilroy 2 Gonna be real busy on July 4 weekend

Why is Hollister-Gilroy so busy on July 4th weekend? (I mean as to compared to other places.)

And no, that's not where my fiance is going, I am just curious. We live in SoCal and were lucky enough for him to get sent very close to us so we won't have to move. Yay! (At least for now anyway.)

See your comment about Marin immediately above - from what I've heard, that pretty much explains it for Monterey too.

Marin 3 At least housing is affordable, about 200 miles away
.

Not sure where the Marin stations are...but Northern Solano County is still semi-affordable (Vacaville, Dixon). I used to (and still do) work real estate for that area and the prices there have steadied or come down in the last year. That's within 100 miles give or take 25. Its not Sacramento, but its not Sonoma. Something for those going there now or in the future to think about.

I've lived in Monterey Co. and it's expensive! I was paying $950 for a 1 bedroom not including utilities! I've could have found something cheaper but family safety first. It's a nice area.

How would you train at a RP?

You typically train at the nearest "home" office in which you are out of.

How many officers down is the Santa Maria CHP office now?

There appear to be a few choices assignments on there.

What you want to be near the most beautiful, sought after region in California? Here's your sign=:closed: Good luck mate! Anywhere on the central coast is for seniority only. I own a house here and am bummed to have to leave it after the academy. If anyone wants to rent a really nice 3 bed, 2 bath in Oct, PM me. If you noticed, no where in that list is Kings City, Templeton, San Luis Obispo, Santa Maria, or Buellton. That would be the entire central coast area...

Last I heard, 5-8 Officers.

166 East is getting almost NO attention.

+-11 fatalities this past year there.

I totalled the assignments from the last 6 Academy classes to come up with the following data. This should give you an idea of where you'll spend your first year with the CHP.
