Hello everyone...
I was hoping we could get some updates about the last round of applicants testing out od Southern Division (those that took the QAP in August). I signed my commitment letter, and turned in my PHS the first week of September, and am still waiting on my initial interview with my BI. She did call and say that she has my packet, and I know everybody has already gotten my letters to fill out, but still no interview.
A friend of mine tested with me, and then had his packet sent to Coastal, as he lives in Ventura County. He already had his initial interview. Just curious to see where everyone is with this. Thx.

Not from southern division but you guys are so gung ho about your applications. It took a year and 10 months and 13 days for me to go through the process. This stuff doesn't happen overnight guys. Remember guys that this is the State where it's all hurry up and wait. That's the way it is now and they way it was when I went through the process. Just have a litle patience and in time, you'll here from your background investigator.

easy lomotor....
i'm not being pushy... trust me, i've watched enough friends go through this to know it takes some time. but forums like this exist to give eachother info, hence my asking where other people stand. i'm quite content knowing that i'm even in backgrounds right now. however, it is nice to hear how your process is going relative to others in the process.

Processing,

I don't think Lomotor was trying to be harsh at all, just saying it as it is.
I am in the middle of BI's right now, and when I sat down with my BI on Oct 18th for my inital, he told me he wanted to have me wrapped up by the end of this month, aka, 2 days away. All of my inital 5 references got the packet and sent them right back and they have not heard any further. None of my employers, only have 3, have been contacted either. I emailed him about my poly since I was going to be out of town a few weeks back and he told me that he would call me two weeks ago. Still have not heard about it. Am I nervous, slightly, but at the same time, not really worried about it, since there is nothing I can do to help the procees at this time (correct??) I know he has 18 other people to look at, and these things do take time. Just relax, and like you said, be content with the knowledge it will all start soon enough!!

BTW. I am out of Golden Gate.

Something to consider is that applicants who have gone through the process with other agencies may have been "forgotten." It is not uncommon for other agencies to disqualify you without notice, or allow you to expire from a list. We do neither. If we disqualify you, you'll know. And we don't simply "forget" about you until you go away. Sometimes it is a long wait, but we won't forget you.

Processing,

I'm in the same situation as you. I tested in Southern, turned in my PHS, had one call from my BI, then nothing further in almost 2 months. I keep telling myself it will happen when it will happen, but it gets frustrating sometimes. It'll all work out though. I know what you're going through.

Even if current officers forget, there are stressors on an applicant as well. I realize that I have no idea what stress is until I get to the academy and on the job, but these are more of life stressors. Some of us are unable to make long or short term decisions while waiting to see how the hiring process goes. Things like moving to a new apartment or buying a home, taking a new job, signing any kind of contract are going to be affected if and when a new career with the CHP begins. I know for me (and everyone has a different situation) I don't want to sign a new lease for an apartment because they are very difficult to break and I am not going to start a new job because it would be detrimental to the company if I had to leave in a few months. But it is that important for me to do everything I can to try to become a CHP officer. I know I must, basically, put my life on hold right now. I know there is a bigger picture out there, it just gets frustrating during the waiting. And everyone knows...the waiting is the hardest part.

I am also in the process and patience is a must I took the PAT in January in San Diego, since then I have been contacted by my BI twice once in February, and the last time was in October, he told me that he would get to me very soon. I have yet to have my initial interview, but I will in no way lose patience or start calling him to see whats going on. feel very lucky if you have your initial interview anytime soon. In the meantime I have been preparing for the academy by getting into shape, stabilizing my finances. With patience comes preparation and motivation so when the time comes I will be ready.

Look at it this way. The longer you have to wait, the more time you have to prepare for the physical training at the Academy.

Good luck.

Still no news on my end. I had a call form my BI a couple of months ago stating she had my packet, and would get to it eventually. I'm guessing (more like hoping) that once the March academy starts, some of the current workload will be completed, and we will all get started. A friend of mine tested with me in the southern division, but had his background transferred to coastal since he lives in Ventura County. He has done his initial interview and CVSA already. A little frustrating to watch since we started together, but hey.... it's a good lesson in patience... one which I'll deal with!!!
