I've been camping out for the last week. Requiring phone calls from any family members who may check the mail while I am at work.

Today was 3 weeks exactly, and no letter.

From the looks of things, it took a few months to get "the packet" from CHP after the oral. I'm starting to wonder if I will make it April 2nd like my BI told me considering I haven't had my oral psych yet (waiting to make an appt). I guess the only thing I can do is keep my fingers crossed. Is there anyone else in my situation waiting to get in this April that hasn't had their psych yet? Any feedback is appreciated

Exact same boat. Not a problem though because it will just give us more time
to train and condition. I was super pumped up about the speed at which things were moving but this kind of brings it back down to reality. There is still a chance we could make the Apr. date but we wont know it until the day before the Academy starts!!! WOO HOO Now that would be test in how well you can handle stressful situations. No matter because I will be ready to jump if I get the call.

If you got a packet this week I'm sure your head is buzzing with anticipation about the upcoming academy! How's your physical conditioning? It would be great to figure out a way to get to know each other a bit better before we go to the academy together. I know its going to be tough so it would help to have some friends to go through it with.

I just did a half marathon on Sunday at an 8:15 pace and I run regularly so I feel good about the running part, I just need to work on my sit-ups/push-ups/pull-ups. I need to get some boots too! =)

I actually had my final in Jan and completed my medical 2 weeks ago. So this is what I am thinking: I'll get the appt within the next few days, show up, get it done, wait, then hopefully get the packet before April 2. My BI said I would be going on that date (granted I pass the oral) but like some have said before..you never know, I might get the call 48 hours before it starts. But thats worse case scenario of course. Until then, I'll continue on as usual.

A local sergeant told me that they sometimes add people up to the beginning of week 2 so I would think you have a very good chance of getting in by April 2nd.

Luckily I don't have a problem with pull-ups. But runnning, on the other hand, is NOT my strength. I'm battling through sore ankles and shins...mainly the sides of my shins and upper ankles. I have been running 3 miles between 25 and 26 minutes 4 to 5 days a week. What has everyone else been doing? Any suggestions on the pain?

Maybe M W F on running may help and give some recoup time. 3+ miles is what I run on those days.

On a sad note I broke the branch that I have done pullups on for the past 10 years . Now I need to find a new place where I can do pullups.

I've been running 5-7 miles at an 8 minute/mile pace. I did a half marathon on sunday (13 miles) at that same pace. I've been doing marathons and triathlons for a few years now so the running shouldn't be a problem, I'm just working my core a lot and building arm strength doing push-ups and pull-ups.

I know exactly how you feel! I finally called my BI when it was about 8 weeks after my psych; just to ask if it was normal that I hadn't heard anything. He called Sacramento and they said I was cleared, but that they have been very backed up with trying to get so many people in this class (240!). I ended up getting my packet about a week later. So it was about 9 weeks after my psych interview.

try not to stand out,

1 1/2 months into Marine Corps boot camp I was snagged by one of my drill instructors while running to the head (bathroom). I asked me in a semi-polite tone "WHO THE F@## ARE YOU AND WHY ARE YOU IN MY SQUAD BAY!!!" I tried to tell him that I was assigned to that Platoon and this was my correct squad bay. The senior drill instructor had to come out and tell the other hat that I was a recruit in his platoon. So, long story short, the drill instructor "Got to know me" on the quarterdeck for approx 45 min or as he put it "Until I get tired"

Moral of the story... it's ok to stand out a little bit but only enough to let you safely travel to and from the bathroom.

When was your med. and psyc?
I had my med. and psyc. back in Oct of 06. It took a while for me to receive my packet because I was told by my BI to wait for med. office to contact me for my post operation letter from my doctor for my surgery. I contacted the med. office last week because I thought it was strange that I been waiting for over 3 month for the med. office to contact me. The med. office said that they been waiting for my post op. letter this whole time. So I faxed my post op. letter on 02/22 and received my packet on 03/01. If I took my BI advice I would of waited forever for a letter from SPB that would of never arrive.

April 2nd Academy bound...... received packet 2 weeks ago after applying for the second time....failed psych 1st time, DQ'd for a year, now I'm in. QAP = 95 both times (sans military bonus). Two and a half years after first applying, I can't wait!!!!!!

So 21 academy bound folks have posted to this thread alone! Looks like were in for a seriously crowded academy. People have said they are trying to get 240 people! Looking at the numbers they've had for past academy classes that number seems very high.

Hey guys..I'm new to the forums...I've been in the hiring process since September of 05...when i took my written..did the P.A.T. in November 05 and had my QAP just after that in December...I got my results for the Q.A.P. in Mid-January 06 if I remember..and I passed the Q.A.P. with an 80. Doesn't sound too normal from what I've read. I finally received my conditional commitment for hire in July 06..and was contacted by my B.I. a couple months after that. I believe I had my VSTA(not sure if that's the correct acronym) in November and was notified by my BI of Background clearance on December 1st. I did my medical in late December if I remember and was almost DQ'd in January by my BI..but after meeting with his superior, I was told they were going to continue to push me through..I just had my Oral Psych on February 23rd, 07. I am awaiting the results and thought I was on track for the April academy, but now I'm not sure. Does anybody have an approximation of how long it takes to get your results back if you failed Psych? Does it come quicker than if you passed?..the anticipation is finally getting to me, it's been a really long road...and I'm hoping I see some of you in April..or June. Also, since I never got any word back on my Medical..does that mean I passed if I was cleared to do my Oral Psych? ..Any feedback would be appreciated.

Onthejob
03-07-2007, 08:38 PM
I don't know how long a cut-and-dried medical clearance takes, but it took me about two or three months due to a pre-existing service connected "disability". It took me about six weeks from the time they cleared me medically to the time I had my psych oral. Then it only took 16 days to get my invitation to the academy.

As far as the psych oral turnaround time goes: I don't think it matters if you passed or failed. They decide your case and send you a letter. I doubt they sit on the cases that failed and send out the ones who pass or vice versa. They just decide one way or the other and send the letter.

Be patient because if you haven't received your medical letter yet, you still have a little time before you’re scheduled (I got a phone call, and others in the forum have said they got one too). Based on my experience, and others posted here, you might have a few more weeks to PT before the June academy. Of course, you could make it into the April academy, after all stranger things have happened.

Good luck!!

I just received my packet early this morning. I was starting to think it was never going to get here. It feels like it's been a long wait since I first sent off my application, but I know it will be well worth the wait. See everyone there on Monday morning.

Congrats to those of you going in April ! My question is does the letter come in the mail or is it hand delivered to your door step? I know I have scared the mail man a few times by now...The waiting is getting to me :hitwall:. A little over three weeks left for some of you to train!

I've been stalking the mailman as well for the past three weeks, I'm sure he thinks I'm a little weird by now but whatever. Anyways my packet was delivered by California Overnight and was dropped at my doorstep. Not sure if thats how they all go out though.

I received mine through standard delivery, I guess they'll leave it in your mailbox if there's room. Description- Manila Envelope:cool:

Ditto..... Two and a half weeks after my Psych.

However, my rejection letter that I got a year and a half ago was a small white envelope  So pray for a large manila envelope!!
