blood work question

what do they test for when you get your blood work done? Are they just making sure you are in good health?

Herpes-simplex-10, mostly. They also test it to make sure it clots quickly, 'cause you do a lot of bleeding at the Academy. And they make sure it's a few degrees below 98.6 because a chippy has to have ice-water in his veins, sometimes.

I obviously have no idea, but those were the first three reasons to pop into my head.

If you make it to the Academy and the blood-donor-people come by, they'll test it for all sorts of diseases and let you know if you're clean or not. That was a fun night, because I and some other cadets chowed on the cookies, pretzels, granola bars, and beverages after giving them a pint. Ahhhh...I miss the Academy.

Yeah I tried to give blood but was denied that night due to having recently taken antibiotics (pneumonia at the academy sucks!).
