The countdown begins! Only 9 more weeks after this week left to go. It's nice to be on the downslide finally. You know, it's pretty amazing to me just how much they learn at the academy. I certainly have a new found respect for law enforcement and especially those who attend and make it through the CHP Academy. Not that I didn't have respect before, but I just had no idea what you guys go through and just how much you have to learn to be able to do your job. It seriously amazes me. This class is still slowly losing people - the majority lost to EVOC so far. But hopefully they will still have a good sized class at the end. I'm excited that the dreamlist will be coming out soon. Hopefully we will get to go where we hope to.
Anyway, good luck to all of you in this class. Hang in there - the end is almost here!

Yeah, i have Heard that the EVOC course gets a lot of cadets DQ'd. Kinda sucks cause isn't it towards the end of the academy?

No, they start EVOC classes just a few weeks after they arrive at the academy.

Is there a limited number of people that each cadet can invite to graduation?

A cadet is usually alotted about 10 or so tickets to the live ceremony in the gym. Most of the others you invite can see it via screen in the classrooms. All the others have to wait outside and watch as you exit the gym and into the quad. Now saying all that I don't know how the academy prepares for a graduation for 160+ new officers???? I graduated witha mere 67. Hope this helps!

We had 150ish and I think we got 4 tickets each. The rest are in the classrooms watching on the tvs.

As far as I know we have 139 left as of today and my guess is we will have about 4 seats per person for the graduation.
I just finished a very tough week and looking forward to getting the next two done and over with!
Any word on your assignments yet? Please post locations when you get them:biggrin:

We think that the list of who is going where came in today, but staff didn't give it to us, just was talking about it. I would guess that we will find out early next week.

What is a typical day like on Graduation Day? From what I understand, there will be the graduation ceremony, the pinning on of the badge (is that included in the graduation ceremony itself?), an EVOC presentation, and a range presentation(?). Do the cadets get to join/sit with the family during the EVOC and range presentations? Are there any tours of the facilities? Are there any other events and/or presentations that happen that day?
As you can tell, I am soooo looking forward to March 23rd! Thanks for any information you can give me.

You will find out soon enough. The day includedes an inspection by the commisioner, marching into the gym, speaches, presentation of the badges, and final fountain ceremony. Then after lunch (on you own) there is the EVOC and PT demo (there is not a range demo, no such thing). By this time you are (or whoever is graduating) not a cadet anymore and thus can do whatever you want - sit where you want, go to the demo or not go, walk through the quad, look at the fountain, go through the admin building and look at the museum, go up to a staff officer and say "whatzup" (or not, its all up to you. I never said anything). It will be a great day for all involved.
