How often to the motor units ride in pairs? And how do they communicate when riding? Do they have to shout or do they have some time of two way intercom to talk about random everyday stuff while riding?

Most CHP motors do not ride in pairs unless they are going somewhere together or it is a training situation. They have car to car or mc to mc communications via department radios. They talk about random everyday stuff in the donut shops which they go to frequently. They don't shout at each other when riding because that is not cool and cool is very important to motorcycle officers.

I kept getting launched trying to kick start my Harley in Academy training. I was going to try again when I made Sgt but my room-mate Monson, (83-S1) told me that there was only enough room in the crib for one motorsgt. Something about gigantic egos or genitals, can't remember which one it was..............

Shouting at each other is BOC - Breach of Cool. Not allowed.

Motor partners are born with the inate ability to communicate with one-another via ESP. They know what each other wants to do and move as a single unit. Unlike car cops - who have no ability to look cool and be a chick magnate - motor cops are stylish and maintain a great amount of grace, stamina and chic. They are suave and debonaire. Cool cops are motor cops.

Keep away from the back side of the trailer because you'll end up looking short and fat in your reflection.

i was all excited to post a snarky, "um, whenever they're on "CHiPs?" then we saw two motors side-by-side a couple of hours later. dangit! not in training, just going for coffee.

met a motor today... i have to say, i wasn't too impressed with his coolness quotient. his arrogance lowered it drasically.

car guys do it, too. first day off break-in, my husband found the big, glass building, just to drive by and stare at himself. can't say i blame him... ;)

One of my CHP buddies is a motor officer and does VIP escort duty. He sometimes rides with other motors on this detail when traveling to these assignments which can be pretty far away from their home offices. I saw him on TV twice working the various funeral motorcades for President Reagan.

I was talking with an officer the other day (not a motor) and he said someone has to have thier M1 for two years prior to applying to become a motor. Is that true? It makes sense to me. If thats the case I finally have an excuse to get a bike!
