Hello everybody. I recently took the written exam, haven't heard back just yet, but I was looking to get some pointers on the QAP. What kind of questions can I expect? How much knowledge am I expected to have regarding the CHP? Should I wear a suit or is a shirt and tie acceptable? Any help wouild be apprecaiated, thank you.

What kind of questions can I expect? Questions about you and how you would be an asset to the department. Try and go to any seminar put on by your local office. This will help you greatly. How much knowledge am I expected to have regarding the CHP? Study all the books that came in your initial packet. They have a wealth of information. As well, try and get this book (http://www.chpforums.com/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=104). It has a great section on the QAP Should I wear a suit or is a shirt and tie acceptable? This is a hiring process that is extremely competitive. How bad do you want the job?

Hope this helps.

I'd suggest a ride along as well... Contact your local Area office.

Know all the information on the web site and read the book redhead suggested.

...Should I wear a suit or is a shirt and tie acceptable?...
It's a job interview, so treat it as such - put your best foot forward. We had a couple guys show up in jeans, casual wear, even one with a full beard....that was the last time I saw any of them.

That just astounds me. I can't imagine anyone even contemplating dressing like that!

Yep - pretty crazy, but at least it weeds out some of the chaff right from the git-go!

That's true! From an applicant stand point, I should be thankful some of the "competition" are complete boneheads. :D
