3rd degree burns over 90% of his body.....it may have been a blessing to pass away. Let's now hope they catch the person who caused all this.

just heartbreaking. i was at a small-town-ish 7-11 in san diego county today and they had a bucket out to collect money for the esperanza victims' families. i couldn't help but well up with tears. so sad. the cedar fire in 2003 hit the neighborhood where i grew up and where my parents still live. they ended up with nothing more than a singed fence, but homes were lost on the same street and the neighborhood behind them was totalled. i remember driving by a YEAR later and seeing a family sitting on their property, out in front of their rv that they had been living in the whole time. they had a sign up that said, "firestorm 2003 may have taken our home, but it didn't take our heart." made me cry like a baby.

we're an sdfd family (my side, that is) and stuff like this hits close to home. our thoughts and prayers are with those poor families and the heroes they loved.
