Got my invitation yesterday. Age 30 from southern division.
Congratulations to all that have received their packets for December!
How long after you took the oral psych did the pkt. come in the mail? We are anxiously awaiting my husband's packet. Tomorrow will be three weeks since psych!:
Thanks!

Congrats to all of you. I am very excited for all of you and extremely jealous. I was hoping to make in by Dec but it looks like I won't be there with all of you. Still waiting for my psych intrvw. By the way I'm 34, will be 35 by the time I get in next year, if I get invited. Anyway, again, congrats to all of you.

Most Division's will hold a Cadet Orientation for those invited to the Dec. Academy. They are usually held a week or two before the Academy class starts to help you prepare. If you have an invitation to the Academy, you'll want to make sure you attend the Cadet Orientation. I thought all the Divisions did this, but I can only speak for Golden Gate Division and Valley Division. You can always contact your local recruiter for information.

Thanks. I spoke to someone from Cadet Hiring and she said to expect a call from a recruiter or my BI in a week or so about the orientation.
Add one more to that list.. Recieved my packet yesterday, placed ever so neatly on my doorstep, called today and accepted the invite... 3 weeks and 1 day from PSYCH interview.... look forward to metting everyone/22yrs old...
Well, got mine on the doorstep today....actually found out 2 days ago via phone. It took 5 weeks and 4 days from psych for me to get my packet. Long story, but lesson learned that it is a good idea to make sure your medical information actually gets sent in by the doctor. grrrrrr...
Age: 27, (feeling a bit old around the rest of you) ;)

Golden Gate Division (GGD) Cadet Orientation is going to be the week before the Academy starts, probably Tuesday. When I find out for sure, I'll post it. Offers are still going out for the December class and this will hopefully allow more of you to attend. You will be called by a recruiter if you are from the Golden Gate Division process. You should make every effort to attend the orientation for your division. If you receive your offer after your division's orienation and are from a neighboring division to GGD, call the recruiters to see if you can attend the Cadet Orientation at GGD, 707-648-4180, ext 262 or 227.

Thank you HippieChip for providing a glimer of hope for the Dec. academy! What about those that are still awaiting a psych date?
Hubby is still waiting for psych appt. We thought that he had passed medical (Dr. cleared him), then last week received a letter from SPB indicating that due to his "excess weight to height" he needed to have an EKG/Treadmill test done to evaluate his cardiac fitness. He is an older candidate (36) and he's built like 'Johnny Bravo'. We understand that on paper, he looks like a "chubby" guy. The letter was dated Nov 9th, and gave him three weeks (due Nov 30) to get the results back to them, except that we didn't get the letter until the 15th... 15 days, with a holiday, to get things done. Here is where the challenging part came in. Primary Care Dr. wouldn't order the test without seeing him first and they couldn't get him in for 4 weeks. Plan B... he called every Cardiologist in the phone book, all with the same story. "We can't see you without an initial consult, and our next opening is the middle of Dec!" YIKES! After an hour on the phone, pleading, begging, FINALLY, a Dr. 45 miles from our house agreed to get him in quick... so $250.00 later, he was off and running (literally)!! EKG report cleared him for "unlimited exercise" (lucky him!). He went straight from the Cardiologist's office to FedEX! I have now nicked named him my "chubby hubby!"
Good luck, all! And have a wonderful Thanksgiving, we have much to be thankful for!

Probably not likely if he hasn't even been scheduled for Psych, but stranger things have happened.

Valley Division orientation for CTC IV-06 is scheduled for next Tuesday, December 5 begining at 7 pm at the Academy. Last I heard we have close to 100 attending. We are still getting notice of appllicants accepting invitations and are calling them as we get notice.
Twas 4 weeks before Christmas and all through the state
not an applicant was sleeping, wondering what was their fate
All their essentails were packed, in a small overnight bag
If they dared take a large one, it would be a real drag
And me in my snowsuit, all bundled in blue
hoping my applicants, will make it all the way through
Through the thick fog ahead, they heard quite a roar
It was the staff looking sharp, no games anymore
On knucklehead, on crazy, and you over there nasty
Hit the deck and give me 20, and don't dare drop a knee
Then I awoke from my dream, no longer fearing danger
Cuz I'm one of California's finest, a real Highway Ranger

Snowdog, I was wondering if you have the current stats on how many Cadets each division is sending to the December class. I believe I read that Valley is sending close to 100, or was that a count of those who have accepted throughout the entire state?

Thanks:biggrin:

My apologies folks. I posted the wrong date for the orientation in Valley Division. It is tonight, the 28th.
Short story,,, Root Canal, pain meds, fuzzy brain. My bad.
The 100 is the number of applicants and their family members that are attending.
Good luck to all of you.

For what it's worth, you should really consider trying to take that exam at another time if the instructor allows it. Going to an orientation is one of those voluntary-but-not-really-if-you-serious type of activities.
Good luck to all.

I respectfully disagree. There will be no harm in missing the orientation. Much of it is similar to what your background investigator should have already told you but better absorbed because of your change in status.
Besides, when will you have time to reschedule the exam? Friday, or a liberty weekend considering you'll be very busy begining Monday morning. Get the exam out of your way so you don't have to retake the class in the future.

Ditto. If you have read through this forum and listened to your BI, you have basically attended an orientation. I didn't get any extra inside information when I attended.
Hey thanks i really appreciate that.. i started to feel bad for not being able to attend... but trying to reschedule with a college professor is tough as it is.. im lucky that I he even CONSIDERED letting me take the exam early.. plus with the academy being on monday im simply out of time... and my BI did give me loads of info as well as my recruiter... i was just under the impression that the orientation was primarly for loved ones to get the insite.. again thanks for the advice!
