I think that would be UMA - "Ursine Male Adult".

I hope that pic was taken with a looooooong telephoto lens - or from a safe location, like inside a running car which was positioned for a quick getaway! :!: I can see a little shadow at the bottom right of the pic which looks like it may be a car window ledge.

And that folks is the reason camping has never been big on my list of things I gotta do. Now,throw in a 40ft. Motorhome with all the stuff needed to "rough it" like a shower, big screen,stove/oven,A/C and running water.... and i'm in.

That picture was from about 15 feet away, halfway inside a running truck.....I had a closer one (from a little less than 10 feet back), but it didn't come out. There was also a little coyote that was messing with the bear trying to get some food too, and at one point he spooked the bear while I was standing all the way out of the truck......that got me moving pretty quick- for the most part the bears up in Tahoe are pretty scared of people, despite coming in close to get into garbage, so as stupid/crazy as my adventures sound, I was relatively safe the whole time......much safer than when I run into methed-out whackos in the woods.....I should start taking pictures of them....

Stick to the bears - they're much more predictable! I'd rather deal with a bear than some whacked-out tweaker any day.....the bear doesn't carry guns and isn't going to give me hepatitis, HIV, scabies or any of the other nasties that dirty dopers enjoy "sharing".

 The daytime guys overloaded a dumpster to the point where it couldn't be locked....so they get to do some cleanup today before I come in to work. Not a small child, just some garbage.....this was actually the same bear that found it's way inside one of the on-site manager's apartments while he was away on vacation.....he had a hell of a greeting when he got home the other night. He turned a corner and almost got smacked with a bear paw before running back down some stairs and jumping in his car....

Holy crap that bear is huge! We used to have them where I lived when I was a kid...they just sit in the road...
