Based on your other comments, you'll only be watching it. When you grow up and learn how to spell you might actually participate in one.

I think the academy would be a LITTLE easier for anyone with superior physical skills...but this academy is not like Boot Camp, it test your abilities in all areas. PT is a major part of the training but your mental strength will be what carries you through. Everyone will struggle somewhere physcially if not..GREAT..but academically...well when you can PT and pass the 3 quizzes you had and study for a test the next day, you've got it. It's like college at a major university, and boot camp rolled into one, that doesn't include the driving and weapons courses, I mean the day you graduate you will know how to perform your acquired skills on the highway, and maybe the day after graduation you might be issuing your first citation or responding to your first crash. Being "personable" is a requirement in police work... It's not just for anybody...
Maybe you should take a little off the top...

OOH RAAH!! I am also a Former Devil Dog, and I am expecting the worse. I feel that is the way to go. I have been through Marine Corps Boot Camp, and would never disregard the CHP Acedemy!!!!!!!!! Someone needs to take it down a notch! Keep up the good work all! I hope to be there in December, but things are real close right now. I have the Final Interview, Medical and Psych. left, providing I make it that far. I have completed CVSA and Live Scan. Any advice??

Stick with it - you are almost there. The final interview and medical will go quickly but you'll be sitting around waiting on the psych. Don't get anxious - it will happen. Good luck

A marine was in a public restroom using the urinal. An Army soldier entered and used the one next to him. When the soldier was done, he left the restroom. When the marine was done, he washed his hands, and then left the restroom.
Seeing the soldier outside, the marine told him, "in the Marines, we were taught to wash our hands after using the head".
The soldier replied, "in the Army they taught us not to piss on ourselves!"

My roommate at the academy was a Marine and current State Police Officer when he entered the academy. He lasted 4 days.
Just because someone made it thru a boot camp, it is not a given that you will graduate from the academy. I was out of the Army for about a year when I went into the academy and prior service does help, but not always.

I got out of the Army 14 years ago. It all came back to me in the academy. We are almost 1/4 of the way through. EVOC 4 me on Wednesday. Wednesday night restrictions SUCK!
