Before I do anything I plan on calling up the local Sheriff's Depts. and probably the local CHP Office (since CHP is pretty much the only LE near my house), but I was wondering what the laws are regarding target shooting on private property....I live on about 30 acres and would like to shoot a little bit for fun (and of course forget every bad habit I've ever learned before I get to the academy!), and teach my mom the basics on using a shotgun......especially after I found two meth-heads wondering through our yard "just looking around" today. Anyone know the laws pertaining to this? There is a school adjacent to one end of our property (far from where I'd be shooting), and we are a little close to an interstate (...obviously wouldn't shoot towards the road...), how do the safe zone or whatever they're called laws about guns near schools come into play?
