Can someone who's familiar with current academy guidelines answer a few questions for me? After 17:00, when cadets are out of the dorms, what is the proper attire? I was told that cadets may now have to wear their uniforms whenever they are out of the dorms. Also, how many pairs of civilian jeans and shirts are necessary per week?

Uniforms have always been required outside of the dorms. That?s why after 17:00 hours you don?t see cadets walking around the academy. No one wants to put a uniform on, walk around and get gigged. Your after class time will be spent in your dorm room hitting the books, writing memos, polishing brass and working on one-hundred other things. The only outfit I took to the academy was the outfit I wore up there. I would hang my clothes up on Sunday night, where it would stay until Friday afternoon.
In the evenings, you'll wear PT sweats and remain in your dorm room. You only need civilian clothes to go out Wednesday nights (if you're so lucky) and to leave on Friday / return Sunday night.

Okay, thank you both.
Cadets entering the academy in November please post any questions that you have in this thread. The answer to your question may help other cadets including myself become more prepared. Also, if any of the veteran officers in this forum have academy advice that might help us to know what to avoid on the first day, such as things that would cause us to receive a gig, please post that as well. Thank you.

 Lips tightly zipped. Ears widely open. Eyes widely open. Above all remember that thousands have gone before you and done so with success. You can too. Just get through whatever is immediately in front of you each and every moment to the best of your ability.
