If an applicant still hasn't heard about when their psych interview will be, do you think they can still make it to the Academy in Sept? Medical exam went well - had to have my doctor send in my medical history file to the psychologists office - now just waiting to hear when my appointment will be.

Thanks!

If you have the psych interview with a clearance before the 18th, you still have a chance. The Department is not supposed to make any offers after the 18th. Cross your fingers and hope for the best.

My BI had mentioned at one point that it's possible to receive notice that you're going to the Academy even a week before the next one starts - Anyone else have an experience like this? I'm truly excited and anxious (like you couldn't tell that already) ;)

...Anyone else have an experience like this?
Yep. When I got my notification (on a Tuesday afternoon), I was told that I was set for the Academy which started a couple months from that date - but she went on to say that there were openings in the class which started the following Monday. As she begain to explain that I was under no obligation to accept on such short notice, I cut her off and said "I'll be there". Six days later, I was standing in a long line on a very cold morning with a suitcase in my hand, getting screamed at by a bunch of angry-looking guys with short haircuts and wondering what the hell had just happened!

We were told that begining with the Sept. 18th class, there will be no more late/short notice invitations. All invites will be made no later than 1 month before the class begins. There were two main reasons for the change.
First, a large number of the 22 cadets who quit in the first two weeks of the latest class were short notice invites. While they were anxious to get in, as most are, they had very little time to get their affairs in order prior to reporting. Things like getting their family moved, finishing all personal business, giving landlords notice etc...
Second, the Department/background investigators frown upon applicants who left previous employers without giving two weeks notice. What message do we send when we slam you during your final interview, then 1 month later ask you if you want to do it again?
I really think it will depend on the number of commitments they have on August 18. If they are close to meeting their goal, they may fudge a bit. But, I think the days of offers going out 1 week before the class begins are gone.

I hope it turns out good for you jack.

Me too! Thanks! All affairs are in order - family is taken care of - and current employer knows I'm getting ready for the Sept. 18th Academy.

Thanks again!
