I was wondering if there was anyway you can request a different BI if you do not want the one that was assigned to you?

The reason I'm asking is because my investigator told me I should wait 2 years to begin my investigation due to some recent traffic citations.

No. Your background investigator is assigned by the Department. The hiring standards are the same no matter which BI you get in which Division, so the answer is going to be the same no matter who it is.

Do you really think your going to find a BI that is going to let you slide on recent citations? They all have the same protocol and their decisions are reviewed by their supervisors. TWhat good is an officer to any department if they don't have a vaild driver license because of to many tickets? Take your BI's advice, suck it up and keep your nose clean.

If this job is something you truelly want, then I would just do what the BI tells you to do. If you come back and apply in a year or two and you have cleaned up your driving record, it will show your next BI that you are serious about this career. Requesting a new BI isnt gonna do anything but creat a big headache for yourself. Im not sure how old you are, but I am assuming you are young, so I am sure you have plenty of time to whip that record into shape.

Why do you think getting a new BI will help you, let's just say you did get a new BI (which WOULD NEVER happen)--your NEW BI's boss whom ever that may be would probably turn it down. Your packet doesn't stop at your background investigator, you have a few things to get through. It's better to just do what the BI says...there is a good reason for it...
