MIAMI (WSVN) -- Police are investigating the discovery of a Florida Highway Patrol car found smeared with human feces.
The patrol car belongs to FHP spokesperson Joe Sanchez, a former Miami commissioner who also ran for mayor. The human waste was smeared on the front windshield and the driver's side window.

The fallout from that arrest keeps getting better every day!

After reading the article, I believe that this incident was most likely related to a feud between Miami PD and FHP. That's the kind of stuff that can happen when we start writing tickets to each other. I don't care what patch is on your shoulder. We all are on the same team and should be supporting each other.

Yeah but isn't 120mph pushing it a little?

I agree I think there's something else going on there, but seriously at gun point?

I know a lot of Deputies and Officers that go 120mph to either get back to the station to go home and not one of them would stop for another agency. This is just something that needs to blow over

just my opinion

True, the arrest was completely botched, and the Trooper involved WILL pay dearly for it.

On the other hand, I'll gladly bet my two weeks' salary on the fact that this kind of behavior on Miami PD's part went on for years, if not decades, and all the numerous complaints from the public and FHP were summarily ignored for just as long.

At least that's the only explanation I can think of for why the Tpr in question decided to disregard the order to drop the chase and risk her career just to teach that bonehead a lesson.

At this point, Miami PD are acting like little children who just can't handle the fact that the law applies to them, too.

If OCSD deputies are routinely breaking the laws they swore to uphold, I'm not sure they'd appreciate someone posting about it in a public forum. :)

haha not OCSD I'm talking about, Sheriff Hutchens would never allow that. She runs a tight ship.

If all of the stuff described in the original story is true; the Miami cop deserved to be stopped, cited, and then, upon conviction, fired!!!

1. Driving his marked patrol car 120 mph on the freeway (Off duty)

2. GOING TO AN OFF-DUTY JOB (Not his Miami Police Job that the marked patrol car is supposed to be issued to him for!!)

3. Claiming he was late for the OFF-DUTY JOB to justify his actions

4. Endangering everyone on the road.

We may "all be on the same team", but we all took an oath to uphold the law, not break it.

How can one justify "supporting each other" when that support would require us to allow such illegal and unethical behavior to occur and "just look the other way". I can guarantee that if Joe Citizen was doing what the Officer in question was allegedly doing, they would be spending the night in the greybar hotel, no doubt about it.

You know, I've remained silent for a while on this but like bcjack says...

120 to an off duty job is unacceptable.

120 off duty is unacceptable

120 in and out of lanes with a pesky FHP vehicle with its lights on for miles and not stopping is unacceptable (you think after a couple of lane changes he would have figured out the lights were for him)

I can see the FHP officer, or me, remove my gun from the holster. You have no idea WHO is in the driver seat. Sure, you can run the plate and it could come back clear (not stolen). For all you know, at those speeds someone could have just killed the officer and stolen his car (leaving it unreported). After all, Florida is an extremely dangerous place to be employed as a law enforcement officer. Notice she re-holsters her gun after she realizes it's a uniformed officer? She could have felony proned him if she wanted to but he seemed code 4 at the time. (he was just late to his off duty employment.)

In the end, I think he righteously was arrested. It was a failure to yield for so many miles. He claims he didn't see her lights until he just stopped. That means he wouldn't have noticed (or cared) if he ran any cars off the road as he cut them off at 120. It's up to the DA to see what they will pursue. It will be interesting, charge him and tick off the MPD or not charge him and tick off the citizens of Florida (and the US). I can only guess he will get a plea to a misdo section or a speeding ticket.

Of course, this incident ruins the relationship between the involved agencies for quite a while...it seems like a no win no matter what you do.

just my 2 cents, I'm sure some will throw 2 cents back and we will have 4, 6, 8, or 10. Someone may mess everything up and only throw in 1 cent...I dunno.
