I am an injured cadet and would like to find other cadets who got hurt in training. I would like to get a support group together to keep us all motivated to get through our injuries and back where we want to be. I'm sure there are alot of you out there who are frustrated like me about being delayed in our career. Let me know....
p.s. Hang in there cadet!

Im curious....when you get injured...what happens to your spot? Do you have to start over in the process or what? With my academy, provided you would recover in time, they would...about 99.9% of the time, just roll you into the next class.

They will put you back into the academy just as soon as the doctor clears you. You may have to start from day one again though....

My hubby had his shoulder dislocated three times during the academy, the first time was on the monkey bars and then his arm kept wanting to fall out...(Damn pt...good for you, good for me, but not for my hubby, apparently ;) He was pretty stressed about going to the doctor because he had to miss class, but the academy was really about letting him go to all his appointments. He was never taken out of the academy, and kept up with everyone else in class and PT (monkey bars aside ; )...It must depend on the severity of the injury as to if they'll keep you in your class or not..Good luck, I hope you're not hurting too bad!!!

it all depends on the degree of injury. not unless you have a debilitating injury or emotional set back from the injury, i recommend you get back on that horse if you REALLY want this job. i remember a cadet out of my class broke his left ankle. it was a tuesday, the whole company knew, it turned really bad, swole up and turned purple, all the way up his shins. he could not fit his boots, we put 2 shoelaces together due to the wrap and padding. we had liberty on wed and all he did was lay down, advil, elevate. by thurs he could still not put weight on it. he just wanted to make it to the weekend. made it through the weekend,we pick straws to drive him...he had a stick shift, damn what else can go wrong here. went home friday, had it operated on, they put 3 screws in it. came back with crutches sunday night and was exempted form pt. i woukd not say lucky. we voted him unofficially the most inspirational cadet. when we graduated, his wife bought 37 ironman watches and gave them to us. she knew all of us because all our names where written on his cast, just in case we got fired we made it easy on the staff.

chipwife, I'm not a doctor, but I would recommend your spouse see a doctor in regards to the dislocation. I dislocated my shoulder 10 years ago, had surgery and has never felt the same since. If I didn't have surgery, it would probably pop out and that's no fun. He needs to get it taken care of.

thank you, officer grady for your concern! It's been 2 years since, and he's been doing physical therapy and such since then. It seems to be working, and his doctor is happy with it and the progress he's made. Surgery may be looming in the future if it pops out again, but since he's been an officer, he hasn't had to deal with the intense physical activties that started it all. And the muscles have become strong again and he's had no problems since then, thankfully. But, yes, we have seen doctors and physical therapists and the like, and they're happy with him as he's continually progressing  Thank you again for your concern and good advice
