The love of my life is my 2005 Mustang GT. Her name is Black Beauty and I spend more money customizing her than I do buying clothes and shoes!!! And believe me, that is A LOT!!! ha ha ha I wish I could post a photo, but I don't have the capability to. I have seen the 2005 CHP Mustang and it is so cool looking! I love talking to other Pony lovers and drag racing too!!! Just kidding!!! :shock:

I have owned a 99 Cobra, 93 Cobra and a 84 GT. My favorite car was the 93 Cobra but sold that when I got the 99 brand new at 22. Never did any work to any of them, other then drive them hard on the track, mainly the 99.
Got rid of the 99 2.5 years ago after the motor blew for the second time and bought an Audi S4.

I actually had a chance to borrow a friends Ford GT/ aka the new GT40 a few weeks back and that thing was one of the best cars I have ever driven! Fords performance divison since they bought companies like Aston Martin has really imporved.

I read the few who own the GT 40's are having more than a few problems with them....oil leaks etc.. These are are built from the ground up by hand,correct?

I read the few who own the GT 40's are having more than a few problems with them....oil leaks etc.. These are are built from the ground up by hand,correct?Pretty much. They have had their share of issues, but any low production car like that from a major manufacturer tends to. The major issue facing owners right now is trying to find a dealer willing to work on it. The dealers have had to send a tech to school to learn about the car and invest in a lot of new tools specific only to this car. So, some dealers just don't do that and send the owners on their way. That car pictured only has 1100 miles on it, so, its still "new".

I used to own a 1966 Mustange Coupe, red, with a 289 and some work done to it. I ended up selling it because I drive way to much and it is hard with an older car like that.
I am seriosly considering getting the new Shelby GT500 after I get out of the Academy, but that mainly depends on what level the mark-up is at, at that time(MSRP is 41K and current mark-up is 40K so... = 80K!!!!!). I will more depend on the price and the latest news on Ford making a new Lightning. By that time there should be lots of news on the new truck in the works.

Funny because the first production year of the S2000 most of the Honda Tech's couldn't work on them and owners had to go to certain dealerships to have work done.

My Roommate is a mustang freak as well. He has a 91 GT with a 347 Supercharged stroker, a 65 K Code full blown race car, and is restoring a 196_ GT350 right now ground up.

I'm a huge Mustang fanatic, too. Especially the new ones, they're the hottest looking American muscle I've seen in a long, long time. I also love the old fox body Mustangs, those were the bomb!!
2005 CHP Mustang?? Where on Earth did you see this?? I wasn't unware that the CHP has new Mustangs...
Take your webcam and point it at the Mustang so we can see pics! ;) :cool:
I also like Camaros and I read a completely redesigned Camaro will come back in 2009. It'll blow away the Mustang for sure!

There are many things on that Camaro that are completely concept.
The CHP Mustang that was mentioned before was only a PS picture, I don't even thing they have made a show car one yet/or if they will ever, though I hope they do!

In general I'd say the Camaro that hits the streets won't look as "meaty" all around as the concept.

Nice. You dont see too many Imola's driving around, it sure is a rare color, but I like it. Is yours a 6speed or Auto? YOu plan on doing any upgrades in the future? I am not sure if you are in to the Audi scene, but if you are, and would like info about basically anything that has to do with your S4, check out www.audiworld.com . Just make sure to search the forums first because they can be pretty brutal on noobs.

6 speed. I am involved in the secne to a point, going to the GTG's and what not but for the most part spend most of my time on audizine.com instead of the world.....
Only thing I plan on doing is selling it sooner then later. I want a 05-newer S4.

Yeah, I am on both AW and Audzine. Im with you there on the B7 S4's, they are beautiful cars. I wouldnt mind pickin one up in a year or so. I keep going through in my head if I would rrather have a Stage 3 B5 or a Supercharged (supposedly coming out by Fall) B7. I think I will go with the B7 because of reliability issues that have scared me from the 2.7T engine. I guess AWE and APR are developing superchargers for the 4.2 V8 that push out between 450-500 hp, so that would be something to consider. Right now I have a 99.5 Volcano Black A4 and I love it to death.

I have been so happy these last two weeks as information is being printed that states that Ford is working full force on an SVT pickup!!! I was so sad when they said that they weren't going to make one, then I started looking at the Shelby GT 500(I love this car), now I am all pumped up again thinking about what Ford is going to come out with as a truck!!!

Hey, we just appreciate the better things in life, like fine german engineering :biggrin: :biggrin: . I didnt know Ford was gonna re-open their SVT division, but that is good news. I remember seeing the original concept photos of the new Lightning, and man, that thing was beautiful. I would love to see Ford bring the Lightning back, those are awesome trucks and they hawl serious A$$. I agree with you too about the new Shelby, that is one awesome ride, and for the price, you can hardly beat it with anything else. $40k for a 500hp Mustang, not too bad.

Yah, Motor Trend did a couple page interview with one of the head Ford guy's and at one point he says something about the death of SVT was overrated(that is how I was reading the original information, but all magazines started writing that SVT was dead). He says SVT will have the Shelby and a truck... Then I grab Ford Truck Performance magazine and the first article was about how they went to a Ford press event and that Ford was saying how once the Shelby hits the showroom(just started) that they are going to work full force on a truck. They won't say what type of truck, but my money will be on the Lightning though they could do the Adrenaline if they really wanted to.
Sorry, when is see German engineering I think BMW. Oh, how I wish I was Jay Leno and could have all the cars that I want. Sign me up for a new M5! I like the Audi's, but currently reliability is something that I worry about with them(that's just from all that I read, plus a cousin who works on them). I do like the quattro and was something that made me really want one also, but now that BMW is slowly starting to use AWD I am liking what I am seeing with them.

I will give you that much with the reliability factor of Audis. Even though my car has been absolutely perfect to me, I have heard horror stories of some Audi owners, but I have heard the same about some BMW's. I think it just comes down to what you like to drive, and if you are willing to sacrafice certain things for other things. I absolutely love my quattro, and the in the snow it is even more fun. I think reliablity becomes and issue with any European vehicle, but I guess it is some sort of trade off. My Audi is 7 years old and has over 110k miles on it and still runs strong and without any issues, but alot has to do with how a vehicle is maintained through ownership.
BMW is coming out with some nice cars. Im not too fond of the new styling of the 5 series or3 series, but tehy are still amazing vehicles. They need to release that M5 with a Manual tranny just for the fun factor of it, even though the SMG tranny shifts faster. I have heard the new 335i is gonna have a twin turbo I-6 pushin out 300hp or something like that. If they actually come out with that thing, it will be a pretty sweat ride. The E46 M3 is still one of my favorite cars as are the E36 and E30 M3's.
As you can tell by my Avatar, I love Mustangs. A large portion of my OT check goes to paying for upgrades. This is my fourth Mustang, first two got sold, third was crashed before I took possesion and this one sits in my garage and gets tinkered with. The power level is nowhere near stock and it sounds as mean as it is. A Mustang for less than 30k, that can whip on a C5 Vette is tons of fun to drive. I will be driving up 101 in the morning going to a Giants game. Looking forward to every turn in the road and every rice burner who pulls next to me.

Wow, who did you drive that car for? I've seen the CHP's 1992 with Vision bar that is saved for their museum but never any 94's. Another agency?
I'm a Mustang fan too. My current rides:
* 2001 GT - stock w/Bullitt suspension upgrade
* 1991 LX 5.0 hatch - stock but suspension/brake/wheel & tire upgrades soon
* 1988 SSP - restored CHP show car
Past rides:
* 1984 SSP - ex. Milpitas PD
* 1988 LX 5.0 coupe
* 1989 LX 5.0 'vert
I'm waiting for another Mach1 or Boss on the new platform when they freshen up the car in '08.

Does x MAIT ring any bells about who I worked for? The museum thing makes me feel old. I was in SFS in '94 when it was my assigned car, so I estimated that it was a 1994. It could have been a 92. Sorry for any confusion.

Ah, but you don't have to feel too old, Golden Gate Div. just recently (and reluctantly) surrendered the very last Mustang, a '93, in active CHP service that they had been hiding from the fleet folks. It was bought and refurbished by a specialty auto dealer and recently sold on eBay for a pretty penny:

I'm curious, how and where was your lightbar '92 used and did it, unlike the museum example, have the standard door markings on it? Us collectors seem to have very little history on these unique CHP Mustangs and anything you can share is greatly appreciated. :cool:

The markings were standard for any CHP vehicle. Black with white doors and roof. It had the normal decals. The vision lightbar covered the majority of the roof. Interior controls were like any other CHP unit. I worked normal road patrol on both surface streets and freeways in the CHP Santa Fe Springs area of LA County. It was basically set up like a full size sedan, but obviously much smaller. Oh yea, I forgot, it was radar equipped. The HAWK system was on the dash. It was really fun to drive. The small size was always a hindurance getting in and out, but the fun made up for it. Let me know if I can help you with any other details.
Note: I also drove a plain white mustang while working Backgrounds, and used it as my assigned MAIT vehicle until I got a Suburban. The white mustang had state plates, but no decals or any other markings.

Makes sense that they would have set up a Mustang that was used in a more urban area with a lightbar because such an installation would have defeated the original goals with the Mustang of better speed (and stealth). They were certainly uncommon but do have kind of a cool look to them though. I wonder where and how the specially marked one with the museum collection was used?
Did your office have any SMPV Mustangs by chance? These were used in the Banning area:

I used to have a 2001 Mustang Bullitt. It was gorgeous, and I LOVED it. Alas, I had to sell it for fuel mileage reasons, as I took a job driving 50+ miles each way. I would've filled up every 2 days. LOL
I can still get my mustang fix with my father-in-law, who drives an '04 SVT Cobra putting almost 500 to the rear wheels. Enough said. :cool:
