I believe SacSO caught the person who shot and killed Andy Stevens.

My uncle is a "big dog" with Sac County Sheriff's. For the most part they are cool.

Yep, on a very personal level... Still not sure what you're getting at...

I had several of them in my COPS class down here in San Diego a few years back. They were assigned to the COPS unit out of Citrus Heights (who has started or is about to start their own department). They were pretty cool. One of them was a Sergeant and they contributed a lot to the class. The guys from Torrance and Gardena PDs were the class clowns...funny stuff. But that's unrelated.

Both my cousin and my unlce are member of Sacramento Sheriffs Department. Also, my friend has two brothers on Sac Sheriffs. All of them I have come into contact with have been really great guys. My uncle teaches at their Academy all the time. Why do you ask?
Let's not make this into another "CDC" thread. The purpose of this board is not to bash/bitch about every allied agency in the state. Can we just take for granted that the vast majority of law enforcement officers from just about every agency in the state are professional and ethical, and that every agency (the CHP included) has a few bad apples who screw it up for everybody else?

What did happen to the CDC thread? Last I saw it was a little heated. I apologize for that, it wasn't my intention. What?s w/ the SSD thread??
not related, but about 18 yrs ago i was in a pur that crossed the sate lines into nevada, and i tell you....back then neveda highway patrol were pitting suspects alreardy....well maybe not pitting....more like ramming at 100mph. you could see their lights, think they had strobes, just sitting and waiting for the suspect. had their nail belt across the hiway set.
funny stuff, i wish i had a camera back then,,,but only the sgt were allowed to carry polaroids. now thos nevada highway trooper are funny as hell. back then they had coolers (active coolers) in their cruisers. this is for real. coolers for drinks, NOT ALCOHOL, water, soda that type. NOW ABOUT SAC SO, I HAVE SEVERAL FRIENDS ON, THEYRE JUST LIKE ANY DEPT. HAVE SOME SOUR GRAPES AND LOTS OF GOOD deputies. COOL GUYS.

A polaroid is an instant film camera, no need to send the film off for devlopment. And from what I understand, an active cooler is one that is powered to remain cool instead of using ice packs.

Maybe someone should explain what an 8 track is also. Gee whiz, some Officers still use polaroids. Polaroids were the digital photos of the 70's and 80's. Remember the first PONG games? How absolutely stupid by todays standards, but man they were the thing to have back in the day. They were certainly part of what has caused our society to become what it is today.

Still hasn't been answered. I guess we won't know...
I agree with Mac. The agency bashing gets tiresome. My parents both retired from SSD and my brother still works there. I never went 'cause the CHP was paying to attend the Academy. Shortly after graduating, I was injured pretty significantly and couldn't lateral, even if I wanted to. Things always work out for the best and I am VERY happy with where I'm at. I may disagree with the philosphy sometimes, but we are well taken care of. The grass is not always greener and leaving would have only meant a whole different version of the same problems...
With the family ties and having spent the last three years in North Sac (250), up until March, I am very close to a lot of people on that Dept. Absolutely loved working with them, although there are a handful of beat partners who would beg to differ... North Sac is a unique area, geographically-speaking. Safety and survival depends on putting those idiotic, petty differences aside and helping each other out. For the most part, save for a few exceptions on both sides, people seemed to "get" that...

Are those the days when a "floppy disk" was actually a 5 inch floppy disk and the Commodore 64 was the $h!+??

I don't agency bash...I people bash....period...is that an accurate cross section of the department? No. I just speak of my "limited" experiences. Hey my wife is a city cop, my brother is a city cop...I have 7 members of my immediate family that are cops (I'm the ONLY smart one!) who am I to bash other departments?
What did happen to the CDC thread? .....
It now sleeps with the fishes.
