Makes you wonder where the line is for feeling your life is threatened...

There were illegal fireworks being used a couple houses down from us monday night, and I went down and asked them to stop due the dry vegetation in the creek. Normally these neighbors are not too much trouble, but because they had a bunch of friends over, I was not treated well. You'd think that with more combined heads there would be more respect, but it ends up being the other way around.

A group of people who may have been drinking all day refuse to cooperate? ...Never heard of such a thing.

The youth and friends in a house three houses down from us had their annual 4th fireworks party right in the city street! I have no idea what's wrong with the parents to allow this, anyway, I didn't call. I always think that next year I will --same thing on New Year's! Anyway, after everyone had probably finally gotten to sleep it was capped off with what sounded like an M80 or 90. Right now I hear a lot of firecrackers in the neighborhood somewhere. There were several house fires in the area thought to be caused by fireworks. We used to have a cedar shake roof which we watered down every 4th, and it wasn't unusual to find a spent bottle rocket in my garden a few feet from the house. I'm so glad we don't have a dog suffering through this behavior.

Besides, party poopers aren't the most popular bunch even with sober folks...

Which is why my wife and I are always home early on the 4th so we can bring our dogs in the house and turn up the tv. The illegal stuff drives them crazy.

Love the illegals (fireworks). I had some neighbors not only shooting them in to the air, but had some that they would light and then throw down the street toward other houses, so instead of that boom going off 50ft above you, it's now going off on your door step. Decided not to call as well, but do have video to show to home owners association and see if I can't get that family moved out of the neighborhood.
Kind of disappointed that one of their illegals fired straight at them, and then turned out to be a dud. Sure was funny watching them all scatter though.

Maybe I missed something but why would the CHP get involved in something like this? Wouldn't this be a Sac PD issue? Or was a call put in for back-up?

Unincorporated area of Sacramento County- CHP patrols traffic, and they probably stumbled on it, as opposed to answering a call. However, since it occurs in the street, it's likely they may have gotten a call, or since it was busy, they may have been splitting calls with the Sheriff's Dept.

Rowdy July Fourth party broken up in south Sacramento; officers use Taser on 2
By Bill Lindelof - The Sacramento Bee
About 20 CHP officers, sheriff's deputies and Sacramento police officers had to break up what law enforcement officials said was a rowdy Fourth of July party in south Sacramento.
Before the show of force by the officers was over, a Taser was used on two people, deputies said.
The night's events began when a resident complained to the Sheriff's Department that someone was using illegal fireworks in the 4500 block of 28th Avenue. The patrol officers who responded did not see or hear any illegal fireworks, but noted a large crowd blocking street access.
The sheriff's unit asked the California Highway Patrol to remedy the street access. Shortly after 11 p.m., the CHP requested help from the Sheriff's Department. At 11:14 p.m., officers and deputies assembled down the street. Before moving in, they received information that beer cans and lighted M-80s were thrown at a CHP unit.
The assembled officers then advanced on an estimated 100 to 150 people attending the party. Public announcements were made, the party was declared an unlawful assembly, and people were ordered to disperse.
"People did not do that," said Deputy Jason Ramos, Sacramento County sheriff's spokesman. "So some of the officers got out of their cars, repeating the announcements to disperse. … The crowd was unruly and they were verbally challenging officers."
The Taser was used on at least two people, a father and son, residents of the party house, who were then arrested, Ramos said.
Shawn Patrick Asberry, 40, and Shawn Patrice Asberry, 23, were arrested on suspicion of refusing to disperse, resisting officers and disorderly conduct while drunk in public. The younger Asberry was also arrested on suspicion of urging a riot. Richard Plant, 35, also was arrested on suspicion of refusing to disperse and for obstructing a police command, according to Ramos.
"It was definitely a volatile situation," said Ramos.

Why not call the police the police, thats what they are there for??? Sure they may be busy and unable to respond, but you shouldnt let people get away with crap like this! #1 its illegal and #2 its bothering you! If the cops come out everytime they screw off, maybe they will stop. You can be anonymous, you can call and still not get involved. If everyone thinks this way and doesnt call, your neighbors will think it is OK and you may actually enjoy it....
We get 23103 (Reckless Driving) calls all day long from frustrated motorists and while the majority off them go unchecked (either we are busy or not in the area), some of my best DUI's or driving observations come from these calls. Many times its nothing - sleepy driver, no observations seen etc but they are sometimes fun to look for and find and it can lead to some good stuff. Point is don't just give up and let them frustrate you, especially when its illegal. Thats what you pay YOUR police to do for you.

I can only blame it on my hubby who doesn't want to get involved. I have to deal with that! BUT, you should see me on the freeway when he is driving. I'm calling in disabled vehicles, pedestrians on the roadway, flat tire changers in the center divider (or anyone else in the center divider, for that matter), debris in the roadway, etc. I wonder if anyone can answer this question (that has nothing to do with this thread). Why does my cell phone give a tiny little ring a few minutes after I have hung up from a 911 call on our cell phone? I find that very odd. Maybe because we have driven to the next transmitter?
