I just want to get some feedback from people who is already accepted to the academy...
I went to the psych interview the other day and I swear, when I walked out from the interview, I had a feeling that I failed it for sure. The intreview did not go very well in my opinion... and the doc did not show or gave any feedback... Since it was only few days ago, I have not gotten any results yet...
Did anyone felt the same what happened next?

What gave you the impression that it did not go well?

Well, I thought that the interview was more like my background interview. He did go over few things from the psych test (the T or F Q&A) but most of time we talked about my past and my job experience, family and my illegal drug use topics. He said that there were some discrepancies in my background but I went over those issues with my BI and I don't know why he would bring that up and relate to my psych interview...
That's why I think it was little too weird and I thought it did not go very well. It seemed like BI interview not psych interview.

Maybe they want to make sure you answer to the discrepancies the same as you did with the BI?...just a thought.

Im sorry I dont have any experience that would assist with your concerns. I must admit, SB makes an interesting point. One thing I do hear alot here, is if your honest the whole time, don't sweat it. Easier said then done im sure. But for what it's worth, your consistency can and will be very beneficial.
Keep us posted on how it goes. Hopefully some other members here will chime in with their experiences...

I wouldn't worry about it until you get the results. There's really no point anyway.... I walked out of thinking it could've gone better but then again, I'm like that with every interview. She didn't have my background packet when I started my interview so it was being faxed from Sac as we started with the psych test. I didn't have any problems and she was actually encouraging to me with my answers. Again, don't sweat it... as it has been said time and again, no news is good news. She told me they had one week to submit their findings and if you allow SPB two weeks, that's about the time frame you're lookin' at to expect an answer.

I know exactly how you feel...
I won't tell you how to feel while you wait, besides you'll go back and forth for the next few weeks anyway.

I did my psych today. Seemed to go great, but then at the end, he said he hopes I get in, but he's got to send his report to SPB...all I could think was how when I interview somebody for a job, and I don't want to hire them, I say I have to check with the owner of the busines! Oh well, if it's not meant to be, I'm exceedingly happy at my current job.
Incedentaly, I had to go all the way to Sac for the interview (I'm south of San Jose:shock: ). When in Rome...I phoned the PX yesterday to see if wannabe's were allowed to come try on boots (I have wierd feet; it's a problem!), and they said of course, they're open to the public. So my 1st stop today was THE ACADEMY! What a treat; I arrived just in time to watch the fountain ceremony! Came, saw, got the tshirt (literally). Think I'll do all my shopping at the PX at those prices!

All psych interviews are sent to SPB, I wouldn't worry about it.

What a cool experience to see the fountain ceremony. When I did my PAT there I was afraid to be anywhere near the fountain. I felt like I was a long way from earning the honor to look at it close up.
I?m sure you did fine on the psych and look forward to TheForce being able to add you to our list very soon!

Actually, I was quite suprised by how 'public' the academy was. There were plenty of apparent civilians milling around. Several were checking out the fountain, so I decided to do so myself.

Unless there was a tour going on, the "civilians" were more than likely in-service. The PSD (dispatch) Academy is also run out there, as well. There are several classes going on right now (DRE, ITC, etc.)...

The Psych examiners have access to parts of the background report and obviously if there is an issue that they or the BI think needs to be addressed, they will address it and make a determination using their sound professional judgement. I mean lets face it, you BI is only one part of the whole application process, and they don't have all the professional training the Psych examiners have. The Psych portion of the application process is in my opinion one of the most important phases of the App process. The Department counts on those examiners to help screen out people who for one reason or another aren't suited for police work. Sometimes a Psych DQ might just be for maturity issues and with a couple of more years under their belt, an applicant might sail through the next time. Don't beat yourself up over the interview, just take it in stride.

Not all psych evals are in Sac, mine was in Ontario/Rancho Cucamonga
Way to go pup! Sounds like he gave you a better idea then mine did, meaning at least yours talked to you at the end.
Did the PX have a lot of things? easy to find?

Hey All,
This is my first post to the forum but I have been a visiting as a ?guest? for a while now. I completed my Medical Exam on June 29th, and I was wondering how long it usually takes to get a call back about the Psych Interview. I?m really hoping to get into the Sept 18th class.

Typically two to three weeks, maybe more, maybe less. How's that for a vague answer? In all honesty, it is difficult to plan anything with the State. If you go through medical and psych without a hitch, you should have a chance at September's class.

your psych eval is usually located somewhere in the area you are testing in. after all is said and done, the whole packet (BI, Psych, Med, etc.) then gets sent upto Sac.

A lot, actually, all the ones in NorCal I'm aware of lately have been going to Sac.
