I am stuck with a problem.....

Several months ago I switched CHPForums email over to a Google Apps account. Previously, the admin account emails were going to the CHPForums.com server and being retrieved by a Gmail account. In making the switch, I changed the appropriate MX Records to point to Google. Everything moved over and email flowed into the Google Apps account.

Just a couple weeks ago, I discovered all emails stopped coming into the account. Well, not all emails -- only those sent from THIS (CHPForums.com) server. All other paths into the admin email account work fine (I can send from other Gmail and Yahoo accounts, and I get occasional spam and external email). I can not receive email sent from this server to the admin account. I can send email from this server to any other domain. (i.e., I can send the registration emails to my personal account fine, just not directly to the admin account.)

I'm at a loss. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like your host server changed it's security settings or possibly ports in which your e mail is routed. All of my servers recently went to an ssl for email retrieval from an outside software. I will get ahold of you and see if we can figure it out.

It just dawned on me that the 'Forums server may still be using the old MX Record, though I don't know why it would have worked for months and then all of a sudden stopped.

It may have never worked and was just using the "old" smtp settings that was forwarding to gmail. Till the settings changed in that account to be used with the business google settings.

OK....

I'll help you this one time...

Go to the server rack

Unplug the hot air popper.

Move the microwave plug to the outlet on the rear of the server.

Reboot

After reboot allow OS to start

Device manager, add new device "High Velocity Air Popper"

Reboot

Should be good to go

You know, I think you're barking up the right tree with this fix. I was going to recommend that the doppleganger be reconfigured to mate with new port. But DW clearly would have taken care of that as soon as the discombobulator started misfiring, causing the TPR valve to blow off the high-temperature fluid that usually (and I mean, usually) cools the motherboard. But, dude, the hot air popper is brilliant (and I mean brilliant) and a clear sign or your superior geekdom. The force is obviously with you.

(DW, you are a sith Lord for even knowing how to ask the questions you're asking about this stuff.)

Yeah, duh! Stupid old MX Record. It clearly needs the new MX Record.

Perhaps you don't have the 16 gigawatts needed to power the flux capacitator.

I wonder what DW thinks of all this?

I've had some problems along the email lines too, and I think it's becoming more of an imperative to have continuing education to keep up with changes to your server email systems as technologies ghange and evolve. Gone are the old days of basic email protocols, and we have to thank mass email spam advertisers for some of that, as well as email hackers. It's become a cottage industry. Security certificates going out of date can also restrict your communications, as can encryption settings. Also, an IP that has been blacklisted for having been previously used for illicit purposes could be re-assigned to your service if yours is not set to a static IP. You could suddenly find yourself restricted from using or communicating on some networks
Email used to be a simple thing, and now it's requiring much, much more attention.

Did you check the disgronificator?

Well that there's the problem. You need 1.21 gigawatts, 88 miles per hour, and the time circuits activated. It wouldn't hurt to have a bitchin Toyota pickup either.

Did you check the disgronificator? No, but I think the problem was that the metric fuser triode was loose.
