Class Motto

Just curious, What was your class motto?
I know when I heard my husbands for the first time...well to be honest it bothered me. I don't think I realized the full scope of his oath as an officer...until I attended his graduation.
So I just wondered what some of the other classes motto's are.

I have been to 2 graduations...
"I would rather lay down my life, than swerve from the path of duty"
and
"Guardians of the Golden State"
a bit of difference don't you think?

How are the class mottos assigned?

Do the cadets come up with them and are they voted on?

Yep, the Cadets come up with them and the class votes on them. The Company flags (if they still do that) are also designed by the Cadets.

Ours was "Sworn to Loyalty, Bound by Excellence".

The mottos are also engraved on the class plaque. I'm embarrased to say I don't remember my class motto :shock:ops: The class flags go back and forth. Last time I worked at the Academy (2004) the staff office had flags already made up and they changed hands from class to class rather than having the companies make up their own. Of course the staff office supervisor promoted and one of the officers promoted in place. Who knows what they're doing now.
