Welcome to the site. I know you're excited, but there is no need to yell the whole time (CAPS LOCK) it comes off a bit intrusive.
Anyway, you will find a ton of good information here. Good luck!

ATVNSHANE,
Welcome to the forum. Finally, we have someone from Fremont. The area around Ohlone College and the Mission Peak is perfect spot to do some running. In fact, few rounds from the parking lot to the stairs leading to the College campus is a nice way to get some workout done.
This is a great site. Enjoy.
Good Luck

Is there anyone who can tell me the answer to this question?
I have heard that you know what the results of the QAP are before you leave. I have been told that they let you know before you leave?? I guess the question here is, is this true?

negative... unless of course you mean that you leave feeling like you failed. thats mostly standard!!! other than that, you will get your results in the mail (hopefully with or followed by your commitment to hire letter).

Thanks again Processing! That is exactly what I was looking for. I really like this forum. It is very informative, and can really help those in the beginning stages of the process.

I know this is probably not the place to ask this question, but:
How does one continue the chain of responses? Such as how when Processing replied to me, at the top it says,"davesdiesel2005 Wrote" How do I do that so that the conversation stays flowing if you will??

at the top right of every response box (for each person who responded), there is a box that says "quote." click on this, and it will bring up a box to type your response. skip down past the text it already has in the box though, as this is the quote that will show up. fyi: looks like html when you are typing the repsonse, but it will come out okay once posted.

I am new to this site also, and I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I am sure there is someone out there with an answer to this one.
Can you have Tattoos and be in the CHP. I have been told by several people, including a recruiter, civilian employees of the CHP, that they are OK as long as they can be covered by the uniform. All of mine are coverable with the long sleeve shirt, none of them are gang related or racial. HELP!
Also, I appologize for the several entries at certain times. Sometimes when I go to post, it takes a very long time, and then double posts are appearing??
...I have been told by several people, including a recruiter, civilian employees of the CHP, that they are OK as long as they can be covered by the uniform...
Correct. None are allowed to be visible when the uniform is worn.

Correct, I was told the same thing. I have one in the middle of my neck about 6 inches long that is barely covered by the collar of most button shirts or uniform shirts. I was told it wouldn't be a problem. JUST make sure you mention it on your PHS!!! lol.

Oh yeah... the removal process is extremely expensive and doesn't feel quite as "nice" as getting inked. =/

How is this going to affect me at the Acedemy, provided I make it that far??

heh, I guess that all depends on what the Tattoo is of. Im sure you won't be the only one there inked.
I have a hunch im gonna get a lot of heat and nicknames for mine. What can ya do though? When your 17, you do stupid things
I wouldn't really worry about it man. I haven't givin it too much thought or concern.

Micah, you are one of the last people on earth I could see having a tatoo! What is it, a MIGHTY ACORN??? If your sister had any say, I'll bet it's something like "Break A gun/handcuff/lightbar/OC spray."

Thanks, Micah! I have more than the average person, and it is going to take the Long Sleeve Uniform shirt to cover them!! What do you think Now? I am sure, that if I can get to the Academy, there will be plenty of Hell to pay for me, but I am ready, Mentally anyway!?!?!

If they are all concealable, don't sweat it. One thing I would worry about though is working in warm weather. If you have to wear long sleeve uniforms every day during Summer that might catch up with you. You would need some feedback from one of the officers on that one!
As for academy, of course you are going to catch the attention of the staff but oh well, I'm sure you are not the first person to go through with alot of ink ;)
Right now just worry about whats in front of you. I applied back in January and every step has been long and thorough. Don't look so far ahead that you lose your footing, ya know? Good luck and keep us posted on how everythings goin.

Again, thanks for all of the motivating information! I am not trying to look so far ahead, as I am in just making sure that the simple things are not going to DQ me, and if they are, then I do not want to get my hopes up too much if you know what I mean. I will keep you all informed! I should be getting test results any day now. They said, at the facility, 10-12 days?? This is day 10....

Awesome. Should be in the mail this week then.
If I were you, I would call a recruit office from whatever division you are in and run by them the tattoo thing.
Good luck.
P.S. When you get your written test results, just look for the congratulations part. Don't try and understand the score. I think mine was like, 68 or something like that, which sounds like a 68% or something low, but its not out of 100. That score means nothing. Just figure out if you passed/failed.

Thanks Micah! I received my test results on Friday, and I have passed! Now on to the next phase! I have my PAT and Psych. Written this coming weekend, the 29th. I can't wait. Then on to the QAP. I am a little nervous about that stage, but I will make due. I have the Mock QAP this Wednesday. I hope that is helpful. Until the next time, Dave.
.....I have the Mock QAP this Wednesday. I hope that is helpful....
Believe me, it will be. Any applicant who doesn't take advantage of the mock QAP is cheating themselves out of a great preparation tool.

Agreed, I know that it helped me. Also if they ask for a volunteer for the mock raise your hand up!

Well, I went to the Mock QAP on the 26th. You are all right. I feel it was a big help. They kind of did an around the room approach this time around. They would read one of the questions they had listed, and then point someone out in the classroom and have that person answer the question. I thought that it was great! It definately puts you on the spot, plus you have the whole class listening!! Great experience.
