You will probably start off with some floor exercises. Then maybe some weights. Expect at least a three mile run after that, but most likely 5.
Just have all of your paperwork that you were told to bring. Don't get too stressed out. Good Luck!

Thanks. I just finished the interview. They expect you to have EVERYTHING ready at that interview. Have your registration and insurance ready.
For the most part he was cool but he seemed pretty upset when I didn't have all the copies ready for my documents.

With all do respect, the Department tells applicants from the seminars prior to the written test to the cover letter on the PHS, what you need to prepare. What makes you think we wouldn't want everything ready? Applicants voice concerns about the time the background (and entire application process takes), yet by failing to provide the required information, they only delay the process more.
I distinctly remember going over my paperwork until the paper was worn. I read the instructions and requirements, obtained everything, and then read the instructions again. While waiting to be contacted by my BI, I again read the instructions and prepared. Then I read everything and proofread my PHS some more...
Sorry for the rant, this isn't directed at you personally Ridder04.

I did the same thing, I wanted to do whatever I could to speed up my background process. I even brought in a credit report I had done (which is a good idea to do, before you fill out your PHS) and gave that to my BI.
I over did it and made like four copies of everything.
I had very little baggage. From initial interview to final interview was almost exactly two weeks.

I completely agree and understand your point dw. My BI called me less then three weeks after I turned in my PHS. After reading all the posts on this site, I was under the impression that I should not expect a call for 3-6 months; maybe more. I was already preparing all my documents before the call but had yet to gather a few things. Transcripts being one of them. So i was just giving a heads up to all the other potential cadets to BE PREPARED EARLIER THEN SOME WOULD MAKE YOU THINK!!! Don't think I was just being lazy and decided not to get things in order. It just happened fast and I was scrambling last minute. No excuses here
With that being said, thanks for the feedback, great site and I appreciate all the posts and advice from everyone
Continued good luck to all

Not to beat a dead horse or anything... I started getting all the required documents before I received my PHS. Of course, I started with the things I knew they were going to ask for (diplomas, social security card, license) and even emailed the records people at my high school for my transcripts. By the time I got my PHS to fill out, all I was missing was the vehicle reg and insurance. It'll make everything less stressful if you start early.
As for the credit report, it definitely helps when you get to the financial section of the PHS. Halfway through, I started to regret all the CCs I signed up for in college, just to get the free stuff

The documents that took me the longest to retrieve were my transcripts from high school and college. I recommend to all future CHP applicants that you get those 1st. My high school wouldn't send my transcripts to my house, instead I had them mailed directly to my BI. The college I attended allowed me to get a sealed copy of my transcripts right away, but make sure to be prepared to pay an fee for both transcipts.
Also it wouldn't hurt to go back check your personnel files at current and past employers. That way you would be able to verify dates of hire, review any reprimands you recieved and just give you a much better sense of how you were/are as an employee in that company. You do not want to be that applicant that gets disqualified for ommiting trivial information such as tardies and verbal warnings.
