Lovetoscrach,

Usually BI will contact everyone even the day before your BI interview. It is normal. He or she should be on your case untile the last Oral interview. BI will get to your other work soon.

Also if you get the recommandation, you will need to schedule for medical and you will receive a letter for your pschy interview. For me, I am waiting for my pschy interview date.

good luck

My BI got info from some of my previous employers, but didn't speak to everybody I worked for/with. One company I worked for has a policy (for liability sake) to not allow current employees to give any type of references...they just provide the normal info (start/end dates, job desc, salary, etc) and that's it. Could it have been something like that?

I have a question about that...I have found out from some of my old co-workers that the CHP has called up to my old job speak to one of my old supervisors, Im in the Golden Gate Division. Can they call you and/or assign you a background investigator before you know you are in backgrounds, or can they start without initially telling you..because I havent turned in my PHS. All I have turned in is my STD 678.

The company can establish any policy they want, but California law requires they disclose information during a peace officer background investigation... A standard "employment verification" is not sufficient.

Well, technically you are "in backgrounds" after you have received your conditional commitment to hire and submitted your PHS. Some Divisions will start portions of the background prior to the initial interview, so yes -- it is normal.

Don't worry yourself. Your BI may speak with people even after your final interview. Some of my friends said that they spoke with my BI one hour before I had my last interview. So dont worry yourself, I am sure you will be fine, as long as you were honest.

Can anyone help me with this question?
I am prior Military, and it appears that you have to list all past jobs (of course). I do not have any actual reference to anyone I worked with while in the Marin Corps.
Are there any suggestions here. I have read here that you should have recent phone numbers for the BI???

I am a veteran. You should hunt down as many of your old commanders and 1SG, Platoon Sgts, and LT. Friends, unit offices, basic training numbers, co-workers, bosses etc. This includes physical addresses and mailing addresses. Calling your old units and talk to the admin/records you should have no problem getting email addresses or some form of contact with those people. This is vital information that your BI will need. It was a pain, and took some time but it can be done. Good Luck!
