i gradute college next june. but my cop buddy told me that the acedemy gives college credit. if i could finish my core classes in fall so all i have left is units of elective classes needed i would join the academy and after completion apply for my college diploma, that is if they do give credit. does anyone know if this is true, and if so how much credit? also is this for SJPD too? and other agencies?

that was what they offered us at the CHP academy, through American River College. I am not sure about other agencies.

I would think you'd have to check with CSU and see how they would transfer...

they only offer 17.5 elective credits, you cannot apply them towards anything else.

well after this fall i will only need 3.5 units of any class to graduate. so thats why i was just not going to go to school in spring and then transfer my units from the academy so that i can get my diploma

just my 2 sense, I would make absolutly sure with your CSU counselor that those credits will apply. Plus a degree in hand makes you look much better overall in the hiring process instead of being 17 credits short.
