phs --- first interview

Hey everybody,

What is the normal wait time between turning in the PHS and your initial interview with the BI? Thanks much.

it varies, I mailed my PHS in on june 14th '06, it's been almost 2 weeks now and I haven't heard from a BI yet. Others on this board have mentioned that it took several months before they heard from their BI and some as quickly as a week after they turned in theirs.

Correct. Sorry, but nobody can really give you a straight answer on this.

Valley Div had a BI "Seminar" last week. They said that background investigations are being started based on how you scored at your QAP....i.e. 105's are on the top of the pile, and 85's will probably be the last to get started.

Hey uoplax, did you have your second QAP yet? If you did, how did it go?

It seemed to go a lot worse than the one when I was DQ'd (which sounds wierd- they expected some solid explaining after getting a DQ), but I received a passing score, a conditional offer of employment, and am waiting to be contacted by a BI now. The BI's at that meeting said that very few in our group, with the exception of those that had already been contacted by a BI, had much chance of making September, and that those of us who actually make it through the BI process and aren't DQ'ed will most likely have a shot at a December class date at the earliest.

I just received a call today for the first time from my BI. He wants to meet with me this week. He said that he was going to try and get my backround done by the end of July so that I could possibly get into the September academy. I turned in my PHS on
June 09 2006, so it took just over three weeks for them to call me.

Here is my timeline so far.

03/01/06 Sent in application
04/15/06 Took written test
05/06/06 PAT
05/10/06 QAP
06/09/06 Sent in PHS
06/26/06 Contacted by BI

i haven't been contacted by my BI yet, however, I did get a notice in the mail that CHP was requesting information from Equifax. So someone has my file, just no contact yet.

Make sure that while you wait for your BI to contact you, you gather all the information that they request from you in advance (i.e. transcripts, DMV printouts, Social Security printouts, etc.) because they expect you to have it ready. My BI called today to schedule initial interview and told me to have everything ready for my interview (2 days). Now I am on a scramble to get everything that I was delaying on, and transcripts are a pain to get especially when the schools are on summer break:biggrin:shock:ubt:
