How is the point scoring system deviated?

Will they knock points off for say, cursing out a former employee?
Or will they knock points off, for how you relfected, learned and how you respond to their quesitons as of "Why you did it", and what if any did you do to correct it?

If I got a speeding ticket for 5 over, do I lose points during the QAP?
Or if I say, well I took a Drivers Saftey course, stopped the driving behavior, or well I respond to the questions?

How is it graded is basically what I'm asking, based on how well I answer questions, and present myself, or do they rank my background for past actions as well? Or is that the Background Investigation phase more so?

To answer your questions, yes....

You're looking for a scoring algorithm and you're not going to find it. But, yes -- the QAP bases scores on how you answer the questions. And how you have lived your life. And the experiences you've had in your life. During the background phase, the same thing will be done, but somewhat more in depth.

In your example, clearly getting a speeding ticket is not a good thing. Learning from a mistake and making a change in your life, however, may help to mitigate past actions.

Remember, everything is considered in terms of recency and severity. If you murdered someone last year, nothing you say will get you a competitive score. But a few speeding tickets, we can work with that. Remember, there are certain characteristics a CHP Officer must possess by law -- good moral character is one of them and cursing out a former employee, for example, may fall into that boat. But again, we don't know the circumstances.

Thanks for the answer dw. I used the cussing out a former employee just as an example, but I have had 2 speeding tickets in my life, one for I think 10 years ago, and one in the last year for 5.

I was never in any position to cuss out a former employee, I was cussed out alot during my time in the service though. If I pass the written in July, I'll be allowed to advance for the next 3 battery of tests, the final of which will be the QAP unless I'm DQ'd sooner. All during August.

I heard there is no Math on the written? I hope that's true. My english composition skills are pretty par, but my mathematical skills are not much beyond a highschool graduate.
