Let's face it people. From the VERY BEGINNING of the application process, applicant's are told the Academy is going to be the toughest thing they've ever experienced. So, do not say the BI's need to advise the cadets how tough PT is going to be! As a matter of fact, every applicant in the BI process is told ON TAPE in the final interview that they need to prepare PHYSICALLY for the Academy! Could it be that some of the applicant's were coddled as a child and have never experience being yelled at or corporal punishment. If they can't handle being yelled at in a controlled enviroment, how can they handle being yelled at (or worse) on the side of the road where their life could be in jepardy. Perhaps it is best that those who have left on their own accord, have left. Only the strong will survive! The PT staff is there because they really DO CARE about the Cadets and want them to succeed.

I don't know if this happens everywhere or if I was just lucky, but , during my PAT, the actual academy PT guy came in and put everyone in check. He told everyone in that room that he was gonna be the hardest, etc etc but only because he doesn't want any of his cadets to end up dead .
It was pretty intimidating and rung some bells. So much that one of the applicants left right after that and quit.
I don't know how much more heads up anyone would need. I can't imagine going into this thinking it will be a bike ride on a summer day. Well put Pecker. I hope I get the opportunity to prove myself out there.
michajames,
How far along are you in the process? When did you take your written?

I had my QAP a month ago and scored an 80. I reapplied immediately after that and have another PAT in July in the Central Valley.

Same thing when I did the PAT. What shocked me was how most of the room seemed startled by being yelled at, and many giggled! DUH!

It's my understanding the Academy PT staff showing up to the PAT's is an attempt to give everyone a headsup before they get to the Academy. Then when they quit, they can't whine and say "No body told me it would be this hard! Please give me back my cell phone. I need to call my shrink, girlfriend, wife or momma".

They also had an academy PT guy at my PAT and though he did do some yelling I was hopping for more. I know what I am getting myself into and I also recognize that fact that when I get there it is not going to be easy at all, but for some sick reason I can't wait to get my butt kicked at the academy.
