Hey all,
I finished my psychological evaluation sometimes in April. I first applied in November of 08. I just want to see who is in the same boat as me waiting for possibly ctc-iv??? :noidea:
PS. I made a spelling error. WHOSE is suppose to be Who's. In case the spelling police comes around :)

Yes, I too, am hopeful for an invite in October. I applied in January of 2009, and completed psych in November. I received a call prior to the July academy to inform me that I was next on the list to be called if one of the applicants denied their application. Unfortunately for me, all academy positions were filled. I'm anxiously awaiting a call or a letter in the next few weeks! In the meantime, I have to keep training. Keep the fingers crossed!

Wow you actually got a phone call?? I have my fingers crossed for you. Maybe we'll be seeing invite letters around 25th of September. How's your workout like? I'm doing P90X I hope that program will make me suffer less in PT. I am itching to call my BI but people here are saying no to that.

I've been doing crossfit for the last three months. It's similar style to P90x but it's at a gym. I've been doing that three days a week, plus my running on the weekends and off nights.

I'm with you guys, got done in April and I called my BI a while back to find out what my status was and he gave me the cadet hiring line and they told me I just have to wait for the invite, so maybe I get in this October:think: Anyone live in Rancho Cucamonga?
Waiting to hear something as well. Applied Jan 09 and finished the process Nov 09. Even though being patient can be difficult at times, it will be all worth it to have a career of this magnitude.

ahproh, congrats on making it this far. I'm still in the BI process and have been using P90X as a training tool as well. I suggest doing a P90X search on the forum and read some of the comments there. I've pushed myself with P90X and definitely become stronger. However, I haven't got the "sick and nausous" feeling that I'm confident the academy will provide. Just some thought as you prepare for the Academy.

The one thing I noticed about p90 was that it helped build muscle mass and while that is good you need the endurance as well. Being smaller in stature it was making me "yoke" up and I didn't like that. So i resumed going to the gym low weights high reps on specific muscle groups that are used in doing pushups nose in the rings etc ... Good Luck to us all waiting. It truly is life changing just being there. I can't wait to go back for the chance to complete the academy and hit the road :)

I have a friend who recently finished the academy and he had great success with Crossfit. He suggested that I sign up. I've seen some great results so far. If you are not sure what it is, just look it up online, there are locations all over the state. It involves intense timed interval training, lots of bodyweight movements, such as sit ups, push ups, pull ups, box jumps, and running. It also involves some weight training as well, but not typical weights like one would find in a gym. We use sand bags, kettle bells, D-balls, weighted sleds, and medicine balls. The workouts are predetermined when you arrive, and they alway push me to the "I might puke" point, but that's what I'm after.

But, I'm looking forward to early '11 if I don't get a letter indicating I failed my oral. I figured if I don't get anything within 1 and a half months I should be good to go. Good luck to all of you, I hope to maybe be in the junior class at the academy while you all are still there!

You might want to check some of the ones who are getting invites to Oct. Some of the psych interviews are a year old. Keep your fingers crossed for early 11, but don't be disappointed if it is later.

Oh yeah I definitely checked that out on everyones signatures while reading this thread. Like you said Im keeping my fingers crossed hoping for early '11, but I know it can very easily be later.

I was thinking the same thing. I have a feeling that the Facebook thread may be stealing some of the thunder. I've seen it mentioned here a few times, but I have yet to take a look. I'm not a huge fan of those sites.

I'm not even close to making the list yet. I am still waiting for B.I. contact, but I was talking to a friend of mine who is a C.H.P. sgt. He said that the last retirement list out was big. I was wondering if that might mean that the class size would go back up to 150,160,or 170 again trying to replace those officers, which would mean more invites. Just a thought.
Just a word of advice to all - tread carefully. A couple of recent posts have strayed very close to being considered as related to the hiring process, discussion of which is not presently allowed on CHPForums. Read the "sticky" post at the top of the page if you need a refresher on what is and is not allowed here.

It's definitely reassuring to see ppl who applied only 3-4 months ahead of me getting an invite so soon after their last step. Im still going to be patient, as I was told it would be likely to see the academy in 2012 but I think there are some ppl withdrawing their app and it is helping, and with that mention earlier that might mean bigger classes. I might have to start my p90x program back up sooner than I thought lol. :popcorn: Make us proud those of you going in Oct.

To joey and ooloi: Yeah, your probably right about the facebook page stealing some thunder, but I put more credence here than there. Regardless, I think anyone whose really interested and already have an account on both sites will check in on both. I do. Must admit, fb is more cleaner, but more watered down. Anyone can join.

That would be great...but until the State budget is signed who knows what will happen. But I also saw the retirement list...It is big...
