Testing 6/10/06

My test date is coming in 8 days from the time of this posting. I'm excited to take it and the test is just across the street from a Chinese place I love. I used to go there for lunches all the time when I worked near that area. I'll have a delicious chinese buffet to reward myself with after my test.

Any advice on how to prepare during my last week before I take it? I think I'm prepared for all the different types of questions on the test and I just need to write 3-4 practice essays. It should be easy...

Something that helped me prepare was the CHP study guide that is on the CHP website, also the peace officers test hand book (about $35) fromlearning express. You can pick this up at most book stores.

Keeping the hair until just before the PAT, then again...maybe I'll just get it cut this week...

Ok, the test is tomorrow. I am a little bummed, I will be forced to stay out late tonight because I have to run sound at a local venue. To add to that I've had a rough week a friend/co-worker passed away on Tuesday. I feel confident about the test though...wish me luck...

Budget your time well during the essay. You've never had 40 minutes fly so quickly!

Something that helped me prepare was the CHP study guide that is on the CHP website, also the peace officers test hand book (about $35) fromlearning express. You can pick this up at most book stores.Actually I got that book also...if you go on LEARNATEST.com there is a practice essay you can take also, and a evaluator goes on and reads your essay for you...the whole package is an online practice test the study workbook "How to become a State Police Officer California" which they send to you in the mail, and the online practice essay-the test is specifically for the CHP. It's good because the evaluator can help you with things you need improvment on when you write. With the Online test it will show you were you scored the lowest like a percentage, and it can help you strenghten the areas you test the weakest in. I developed a testing method...like a took the test backwards, from Reading Comprehension to Clarity and I scored higher and then I passed, you might want to review some SAT vocabulary also. Well I took the test, the essay was a breeze. I figured it would have been. As was actually quite impressed with how well I did there

As for the rest of the test, it went well, I felt pretty confident on most of the questions. What I didn't anticipate were how many 'read this paragraph and pick a sentence that best describes it' questions. I got in the groove of the test though. It was also shorter than I had expected. If I don't pass it this time I could without a doubt do it the second.

Once I finished the test I went back and reread all the questions I had difficulty with to verify my original answer. Even after that I still finished before most everyone. I am usually very slow and maticulous when I take tests and finish right at the end but everything went smooth on this one.
