A man was found guilty of first-degree murder Wednesday in the killing of a California Highway Patrol officer during a 2007 chase in Shingle Springs.David Zanon was charged in the death of Officer Scott Russell, who was laying down a spike strip on Highway 50 when he was struck by Zanon's car..Prosecutors said Zanon led officers on a chase from Rancho Cordova to Shingle Springs.Russell was attempting to put the tack strip on the road in an effort to flatten the tires of Zanon's vehicle.Investigators said Zanon aimed his car at Russell. Zanon was then arrested by other officers a short time later.Russell was taken to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, where he later died.

That it has! Thank you for posting this. It makes us all weary after having lost so many officers recently and it's time for some good justice news.

Good news indeed!

I would like to see the death penalty on this, that's for sure.
Except here in CA that won't happen, and he'll never be executed. He will most likely spend the rest of his life behind bars, but at least he is off the streets!

No matter what the punishment is for this worthless person, I'm sure nothing will be enough for the family to take away the pain felt, of Officer Russell being killed. Very sad.

God bless his family.......
