How do you pull over a semi or any other vehicle that lacks a clear rear view?

Along side?...or infront of?

How about, how do you stop a fleeing semi?

Reminds me of the stolen tank "incident" in San Diego several years ago...

Conventional methods pretty much went out the door on that one, didn't they??? Dude wrecked cars, motorhomes, freeway barriers, light poles....everything in it's path until it got hung up on that k-rail. Unless you happen to have a shoulder-launched TOW handy or a departmental Warthog in the air (both of which we usually seem to be a little short on), you're pretty much S.O.L. until the tank stops itself one way or the other.

Let me say that I am not an officer but have seen it done in my travels and from my own personal experience. I have been pulled over before in a truck and it was done from the back and when i saw the officer and proceeded to pull over, he came around the front. I have seen trucks pulled over both from the rear and from the front. Truck drivers usually are more aware than car drivers because of the lack of space in the lane, compared to a car, so unless the officer was in a mirror blind spot the driver usually can see them.

As far as the runaway truck thing goes, the chp had to chase one on the news a few years back up I-5. Without giving the name of the company, the chase went on for several miles between the road and the shoulder/median until finally stopped with spike strips.

I like the video of the Sheriff in Georgia shooting the tires out on the 18 wheeler with the Shotgun.....I dont mean a Deputy....I mean THE SHERIFF! Needless to say...the truck ended up upside down. I dont know what the circumstances were....but it was cool.

The ol' boys back in those parts don't fool around! I've seen several L/E videos from Down South, and their brand of law enforcement is a little different than what we're used to.....not quite so 'warm and fuzzy' and politically correct.
